The Apple Watch: Pros and Cons
More than eleven years ago, after Bill Gates personally introduced Microsoft smartwatches at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, I wrote a column in WatchTime entitled Honk If You Want a Computer On Your Wrist! The column asked the following simple question: Does anyone really want this contraption? My answer in the column, admittedly inelegantly stated, was Whaddya, stupid? Of course not! Forgive the immodesty, but I was right. Microsoft smartwatches, produced in conjunction with Citizen, Fossil, Suunto and Swatch, were all total flops. Since then, despite the arrival of various and sundry smartwatches (Pebble, i'm Watch, Martian, Galaxy Gear and more), very few people have shown any sign that they want a computer on the wrist. We are now arrived at what is surely the moment of truth for smartwatches. On Sept. 9 of last year, mighty Apple unveiled the Apple Watch, described by the New York Times as a miniature computer strapped around the wrist. Finally, once and for all,
HYT H2 White Gold Blue & Platinum Red Watches
For 2014, the Hyrdomechanical Horologists (HYT) will release new color and material versions of the H2 watch that they originally released in 2013 (hands-on here). If you recall, we really liked the H2, so much so that we included it in our list of top 10 watches for Baselworld 2013. The H2 is a higher-end version of the H1 (hands-on here), that was the debut model from HYT and combined a traditional mechanical movement with a liquid indicator for the hours. There are going to be three limited editions for 2014 and here we will cover the two that use new liquid colors. The new 18k white gold and titanium H2 watch offers a new look for the popular model with a lovely blue, versus green, liquid hour indicator. Next, is a platinum & titanium model with a cool red hour indicator liquid. The movement in the H2 looks like a piston engine and is produced in collaboration with Renaud & Papi, though they aren't involved in the liquid system. With 192 hours of power reserve, it has a retr

Any difference between PP 5711/1a from 2006 vs 2015?
Hello,The title speaks for itself. The only difference I can imagine is the Patek Philippe Seal' for the models after 2009 (and the 2 year garantuee ofcourse). Is everything the same? Dial color? Buckle type? Calibre modification? Hands? Date disc? Etc.Any suggestion is welcome!
Well, I finally came over to the darkside
I visited SLRDude in Dallas last month and saw his 422. We swapped for the day and he wore my AP 15400. Both enjoyed the trade and seeing the 1950s case IRL won me over. After that, I've been trying to decide between the 422 and the 372, both are beauties. But in the end, the domed sapphire and the PR on the back of the movement with the 422 sold me. So today the doorbell rang and UPS made me a happy man.The jump hour and seconds reset features on the 3001 movement made me decide I could flip my Blancpain Trilogy GMT for this one, although I jumped the gun a bit by buying before flipping.Sent from my iPad (so I blame autocorrect for the spellin' errs)
