Sotheby's Hong Kong Announces Highlights From The Upcoming October Sale With A Rare Vintage Patek Philippe Leading The Pack
Sotheby's Hong Kong has just announced the highlights from their upcoming sale on October 6th. The sale will consist of 420 lots with an estimate exceeding 86 million HKD ($11 million US). The sale consists of a range of pieces from all the major watch brands with a spattering of jeweled pieces, modern wristwatches, and vintage pieces. BUT the most exciting part of the sale is the vintage Patek Philippe Reference 2523 World-Time with dual-crown. 1 OF 2 Leading the pack is an incredibly cool Patek Philippe Reference 2523/1 Yellow Gold World Time Wristwatch with 24-hour indication and double crown, made in 1968 with an estimate of 4 to 5.5 million HKD ( $510,000 to $710,000 US). The reference 2523 was an extension of Louis Cottier's famous world-time design (invented in 1931) but with a new two-crown design that was launched in 1953. This example, a 2523-1, features a guilloché dial that is part of a limited production of 20. This watch is fresh to the market
Patek vs Audemars
Hi all, I have 2 Pateks, Nautiluses, and considered, still do sometimes, getting a Jumbo. When I saw 2 AP in real, the 15400 and the SS skeleton watch, both felt very strange to me, very very light, even lighter than my 5712, which is quite a light watch. It seems I had a little negative opinion about AP, to be honest the watches didn't seem up to the quality that I expected or that I found in PP.The ceramic diver had a very good feel of very good quality, which I lacked to see in the 2 RO's, maybe I am wrong, I'm sure that I am, and it is great quality but I didn't feel it as with the diver or with a Patek. Can you tell me if for you quality in AP is clearly below PP, or equal, or maybe superior to someI have yet to see the Jumbo in real but if it's built the same way as the 2 I saw, I suppose I will also have a problem with the impression of quality from itDo some of you prefer AP to PP? I'm not talking about sport watches as PP doesn't make any real sport watch IMO, whereas AP does a
This or That?
I currently own an AP Diver steel and thinking about adding one more...Which of the two below would you pick and why?
New Blue Dial GMT BLRO price lower than previous model
The white gold GMT used to be more expensive than the white gold Sub, I guess due to the extra complication in the GMT function. Strangely I noticed today the new blue dial white gold GMT BLRO has dropped in price! Its now ?26950 compared to the white gold sub at ?27150Why have Rolex done this? I find a price reduction quite surprising coming from Rolex these days!
GMT or DJII
Hey Guys,Moving on to my second watch.last year my wife purchased a BLNR for my 35th Birthday.Loved the watch... honestly grew tired of the Black and Blue combo and we had an investment opportunity come up .. so we sold this along with a couple other toys to invest. Now back and looking to make my 2nd purchase on a RolexOur local AD has 2 that has caught my attention and I'm trying to decide between the two..He has offered either at 8k and there will be not tax... is that a good deal for either of these or could I do better?we paid full bit for the BLNR 9k and no tax when we purchased it Please post pictures and provide any input you have.I was an overall fan of the BLNR and he has an all black version so it is one of my two contenders especially as I think the solid black bezel will go with everythingthe other the DJII - Its a Blue dial / Fluted Bezel.. It feels both sporty and a little more dressy. But I wonder if it may be a bit flashyIf it was Black dial I think I might get a bi
