Oris Big Crown X1 Calculator Watch
Usually Oris "Big Crown" watches are rather retro. This one isn't as retro visually and feels like something a helicopter pilot would have worn during the Vietnam era, or even today. Though none of that is what the watch is based on - at least through name. Oris opted to dedicate this new watch to the famous Bell X-1 range of planes that were designed and flown simply to go fast.First flown in what I believe was the late 1940s, the X-1 was basically a flying bullet powered by a rocket engine. It was also the first plane to break the sound barrier and had a top speed of about Mach 1.1. They look a bit ahead of their time, like fighter planes from a 1960s era sci-fi flick. Especially because many of them were painted orange. Aside from feeling like something that would be at home in the cockpit of an X-1 plane, the only real nod to the X-1 are the "X" and "1" character done in relief on the chronograph pushers.Like any aspiring pilot's chronograph watch, the Oris Big Crown X-1 Calculator

5712r or 5711
Hi guys,So I recently went in to my local AD and went on the 2 year waiting list for a 5711. I've been thinking in the meantime about picking up another piece. However, I've recently started to wonder if i should pick up another and get the 5711 or instead just get the 5712r instead. Obviously both different watches, but I'm thinking along the lines of the rarity and demand of the 5711 makes it special, whereas the 5712r in the rose gold and the complication makes it special. I'm new to the Patek brand so I'm looking for an opinion from the horses mouth so to speak. What do you guys think? Both I think can be worn daily and on numerous occasions. is it worth the extra and get the 5712r or waiting and joining the 5711 club with another piece in my collection? Thanks guys!!!!!! Does anybody have one? Any thoughts on this versus a 372?
Alligator Flank Strap?
Hey guys,Some of you may have read my previous thread asking for advice on fitting a leather strap to my DJ.I've decided to give it a go, and after much searching have decided on a brown (or possibly gold/brown) alligator flank, as I really prefer the tighter grain pattern over the standard alligator.I was wondering if anyone could recommend somewhere that I could find a strap similar to the one in the picture (not my picture, just one from Google images).. Hirsch make a nice one which is very similar named the Regent', although that one is more of a satin finish as opposed to the gloss of the strap pictured.Any help very much appreciated.. oh, and I'm based in the UK, so a UK seller would be preferable.Thank you
