The 10 Top Watches From Christie’s December Watch Auction
Christie’s New York closed a very successful season of watch auctions on December 17, with a 365-lot auction of “Important Watches” that achieved a total of $12,926,175, including a new auction record for the highest-selling timepiece, a Rolex reference 8171 “Padellone” in steel. Here are the top 10 sellers in Christie’s year-ending watch auction.1. Rolex Stainless Steel Reference 8171 “Padellone,” circa 1953This exceptional Rolex watch, nicknamed “Sleeping Beauty,” sold for $1,145,000, quadrupling its pre-sale estimate of $250,000 – $350,000. It is a stainless steel and diamond-set triple calendar watch with a moon-phase display and powered by an automatic movement. The final price is a new world auction record for this Rolex watch reference.2. Patek Philippe Reference 2499This Patek Philippe perpetual calendar watch, manufactured in 1960, also has a chronograph and moon-phase display. It has an 18k gold case and a matt
The face of the Glashutte Original watch
The refined satin-finished or galvanized dial with elegant retro touches is created in black or silver. The face of the watch stands out due to its distinctive profile curving downward at the outer edge. Your attention will be caught by strikingly executed hour markers precisely cut into the dial surface with help of diamond-tipped tools. The time is indicated by white gold or rose gold hands. The hands demonstrate curved tips conforming to the dial surface. The panorama date window is surrounded by and a slightly recessed frame. The face of the Glashutte Original watch is protected by a convex sapphire crystal provided with anti-reflective coating on both sides.
Should I add ROC (26331) or Old School 26170 ROO ?
Looking to add another AP to the 44mm 26400IO (titanium with ceramic bezel) I already have. Want something flexible for everyday wear. Considering either the newer ROC 26331 (most likely black face as I was underwhelmed with the white when trying it on) or...maybe go back in time to something more old school like the 26170 Panda. I want something on bracelet and do like the newer 26331 line. The bracelet is divine and I think it makes a great daily, however it may be a little too similar in design to the 44 chrono I already have. There is something about the older 42 that speaks to me. Years ago the Panda was the first AP I've ever owned and I've always loved it's flexibility (bracelet, strap, etc...), just not sure if it's a little dated in comparison.Thoughts and advice are always appreciated ! TIA

if you were coming back to panerai what would you do?
Hi ristis!just throwing an idea out there to see where it may go. so i have a pam112 and MAYBE looking to get a 2nd pam.im leaning towards panerai than other brands because pam have different cases as say compared to rolex where sub looks the same as gmt.im thinking of getting a radiomir. i still like the manual wind because it can maintain the thinner case.i have narrowed down to pam 292 (ceramic), pam 337 (42mm)i have also tried on the 372 though it is beautiful, there is no way i can pull off 47mm such a shame.i could get another luminor but i would like a dress watch this time.am i missing something? how bout other brands? exp1?taking my sweet time now.
