Watchmaker Takes Us Inside The Popular Rolex 3135 Watch Movement
As an watches-dealer guest, Hugh Taylor from Xupeswatches-dealer (a pre-owned watches and luxury goods dealer in the UK) interviews their in-house master watchmaker, Mickey Nolan, as he proceeds to service and dissemble this famous work-horse mechanical movement - the caliber 3135 by Rolex - which is found in a series of watches, including the Submariner. Mr. Nolan offers some interesting insights into the movement and a fantastic look at what many watch lovers can appreciate in theory, but don't always know as intimately as a watchmaker who deals with them on a regular basis.Last week, for the first time, I chewed the fat with seasoned watchmaker Michael (Mickey) Nolan as he whipped apart a Rolex Submariner 3135 movement. Despite blogging about watches for a year now, this was my first time inside one. As well as hoping to get to grips with how it all works, I was keen to explore a professional's thoughts on a bread-and-butter Rolex and to find out how he feels it holds up alongside i
Grey Side of the Moon - OPINIONS PLEASE
Hi Everyone,Thankfully I have a new PAM and Breitling on the way and am in that type of crazy purchasing mood...what are the thoughts or consensus on the above piece? I've yet to see one in person but it looks fantastic in pics. Wondering how it would wear compared to my DSSD and other 43/44mm watches. I've also had no experience with Omega's ceramic cases either. Thanks all! Slinte. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Favourite Bond watch
Absolutely silly thread I know, but I'm bored. We all know the 6538 is the archetypal Bond watch, but of all the watches featured throughout the franchise which would you chose irrespective of price? My personal choice (and absolutely nothing to do with the embarrassingly lingering camerawork in Skyfall!)...
Rubber strap or steel? PO query
I am looking at a new watch, either Omega or Rolex.Q is it better value for money to get the steel strap 8500 PO, or the rubber? The watch costs the same, so curious if its a better deal to buy the watch with a steel strap and buy a rubber one for swapping, or the other way around? Also how easy is it to swap them around? Thanks
Datejust 41 slowing down
I am sending my Datejust 41 to Dallas this week. It is under warranty as it is only 3 months old. Does anyone have any experience with a new watch getting slower and slower? At first I thought it just needed to be regulated. Now, it has gone from -2 seconds per day to -8 seconds per day. Just curious if anyone on here knows about the inner workings of the movement. It seems like something is more wrong than just needing a screw turned to regulate.Of course, I will hear the answer from Dallas in a couple weeks, but some people on here seem to have a pretty good understanding of these things so I thought I would throw this out there. Thanks.
