To Wind or Not to Wind: Glycine Combat 6
This is the sixth generation of Glycine’s Combat series and for 2009, automatic and manual winding models are available. Both versions share a 43mm diameter case. The automatic, distinguished by the presence of a date function, uses an ETA 2824-2 movement, while an ETA 2801-2 powers the manual winder. Both versions offer a mineral glass display back. Both models are available on strap or bracelet, with black or blue dials, and with stick hour markers or Arabic numbers. Complete specs appear below the images. Raymond Weil Nabucco Va, Pensiero Watch
The major men's watch release from Raymond Weil this year was a new Nabucco (the name sounds too much like Nabisco to me and I think of snacks) Va, Pensiero. The odd, "comma containing" name comes apparently from a famous Verdi chorus. Does this watch remind you of anything Verdi or Opera related? Cause it doesn't for me. Get this, Raymond Weil actually writes this in their press information, the Nabucco Va, Pensiero "exudes the same power and nobility as the great Italian composer's Opera." Wow, I've only seen greater BS while staring at a cow's ass.I hope someone who writes for Raymond Weil got a bonus for that gem of a quote. There is nothing wrong with the sand-blasted titanium watch, but lets not get all operatic here. This is no watch to sing about. Though you could buy one and play some Verdi music during a video recorded "un-boxing" session. Review: Helson Sharkmaster 1000
As with the Helson Skindiver and the Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military, it is important to know the facts about the watch the Sharkmaster 1000 is based on, in order to have a full appreciation and understanding of why Helson even bothered to make this watch. About 372 (and 422)
How do you guys view the PAM372; is it collectable? A 'homage'? Worth the money (in comparison to other Panerais)? Other?And what is your comments to 372 vs 422? I statrted my watch journey 10 years back and assembled a collection of 12 steel watches from various brands. I went after history and timeless appeal of a watch rather than the current fad. Pieces like royal oak, reverso, navitimer, el primero, Monaco etc. Now, moving up, I wanted to have pm watches in my collection and no one makes them like Rolex. The bug bit me left right and centre and I started drooling over all sports models and the pinnacle day date.But here is where Rolex saved me. After just buying YM2 in yellow, I realise that if I just add Sky D in rose, I am pretty much covered. These are the only two watches Rolex makes in big sizes. They also differ from each other in metals (yellow vs rose), the bezel (ceramic vs fluted) and complication (regatta vs annual calender).
