Why Monopusher Chronographs Are Primitive & A Brief History Of The Chronograph Watch Complication
"Not just a chronograph, Ariel, but a monopusher chronograph!" I've heard phrases such as this over the years in the context of watch brands showing me their new single pusher (monopusher) chronograph watches, and I've never felt comfortable hearing how we should be impressed by one- versus two-pusher chronographs. Why is it, exactly, that brands feel the need to lie to us about how monopusher chronograph performance compares to the more modern two-pusher chronograph complication?I don't really know the answer to that question. Perhaps some of the people who are telling me this information don't themselves understand that monopusher chronographs are an earlier, more primative form of chronograph compared to a two-pusher chronograph system. It is also possible that because so many chronographs today rely on the popular two-pusher system, they feel it is worth noting their exception.Breitling first monopusher chronograph wrist watch from 1915.All of this got me thinking about when the tw
WATCH GIVEAWAY: Claude Bernard Chronograph Automatic
This month on watches-dealer, you have a chance to win a Claude Bernard Chronograph Automatic timepiece, which is an elegant and attractive bi-compax chronograph. Who wears a chronograph dress watch? The concept is a relatively modern phenomenon which developed as historic sport watches simply became dressier over time. Originally, all chronograph watches were tools meant for timing events and activities, but later became lifestyle objects. Today, there are sporty chronograph watches and even sportier ones. The Chronograph Automatic by Swiss Claude Bernard has an understated elegance but also a clean modern design. At 42mm wide, the steel case is PVD coated with a rose gold tone or offered in polished steel and contains a mechanical Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement with a chronograph module. A unique design feature is the date window which is located under the 12 o'clock hour indicator. The rear of the watch has a sapphire crystal display back. Claude Bernard offers the Chronograp
Michael Schumacher Limited Edition Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Watch + Video
As famed Formula 1 race car driver Michael Schumacher announced his retirement, Audemars Piguet also announced his new limited edition watch. A few days ago I debuted the Royal Oak Offshore Michael Schumacher Limited Edition watch here via Forbes. You can visit that post for details on the watch as well as more images. Here I'd like to offer some thoughts, humor, and more views of the watch itself. It was about two years ago that Audemars Piguet announced their relationship with Schumacher - and they were damn proud. Schumacher is an excellent addition to their roster of sport champions, with Schumacher himself likely looking for a new watch brand partner at the time. While I don't know for sure, it is possible that Audemars Piguet and Hublot rivaled over the championship driver - as they have with some other people or events in the past. While not the first racer with an AP watch to their name, Michael Schumacher is likely one of the most well-known.It took two years to finally get his

Tried on My GRAIL ... 5270R
Dear TRF friends.... During my recent trip to Germany I came across my Grail at a Patek AD Once it was on my wrist I knew that from this moment forwards nothing else would excite me unless it was of a similar calibre... I have been wanting to add a grand complication and have been leaning towards this piece... And now that I have tried it on I am totally excited about this watch! However before I can allow myself to go ahead with this purchase I have to sell off a few pieces... I want to be able to just enjoy a few great watches rather than a lot of good watches now for the fun part.... Please share your thoughts with me... Out of my current Patek collection, which three Pateks would you keep and which ones would you sell in order to get the 5270R!I already have an idea however, I just want to see what you guys think! So let's have some fun!
