Another AT 8500...Um...my 5th
This community is so valuable with the sharing of information and relationships. Another benefit is being able to try different watches without too much of a financial hit. With that said, I'm on my 5th AT 8500. I've had Opaline, grey, black/golf and blue in that order. All are very nice and would welcome any of them in the future. Obviously I have learned that I need to have an AT in the collection. So here is the latest: 41mm SS/Opaline dial/Rose gold markers. The bracelet was ordered separately with polished links which I think gives it a dressier touch. After 5 days with my 5th AT, I have to say I'm liking this one. On strap or bracelet, it has a nice dressy, almost vintage hint to it. The Rose Gold markers change quite a bit in different lights from rich rose to almost silver - very cool. Thanks for looking!

40th Anniversary Speedy Info Request
My brother in law, a big fan of the space program, has always wanted a Speedy. I've been pushing him, of course, as any good brother in law WIS should. He texted me yesterday saying he's getting serious and was interested in the 40th Anniversary model.1- Is there only one 40th Anniversary model? There are so many Speedy references but the only 40th I've seen has a silver sub dial 9:00, comes with a nice wood presentation box w/ commemorative coin.2- Any idea of the going rate [either from AD, if still available or NIB gray market]?3- Best suggestion to locate one?Your thoughts and/ or comments welcome.Thanks in advance,dP

The want/need for the new
So with all this talk of Basel coming up (which is all new to me btw, I hadn't even heard of Basel until about Sept last year) it got me thinking about how so many of us, the watch buying public have the need to get hold of the latest item.I'm equally guilty, I get the feeling after buying a new car last year, only to find out there will be a replacement launched in a few months. Now it's an awesome car, almost faultless and really makes me feel special, and satisfied my needs - until the news of a new one came out. Where does this come from? Is it a generational thing? I'm 30yrs old.How I linked this to watches, specifically Rolex, was the thought that before access to the Internet was like it is today, did regular guys like me not get to know about the new latest Rolex, and was therefore more likely to keep it for a much longer time? Slight concern? Help!
Earlier on i read this on watch club...Until 1976, Rolex would punch the year of production on the inside of the clasp, preceded by the Roman numeral denoting which quarter of the year it was produced, so, when we see the clasp code IV 68 we know that it was produced in the 4th quarter of 1968. From ��76 onwards though the year was replaced with a lettering system (in a similar fashion to the case numbering system adopted in 1987). If the letter is prefixed with an ��S' it indicates if is a service replacement.I purchased a 116610LN last June brand new from my local AD, and my clasp number is S2Q, does that mean my watch has a replacement bracelet?
