Corum Ambassador Ben Ainslie Sets Sailing Record
On July 11th 2009, Corum ambassador Ben Ainslie set a new elapsed time record for monohulls in the Transpacific Yacht Race. Sailing Alfa Romeo II (Neville Crichton's Reichel Pugh 100), Ainslie and crew made the 2,225-nautical mile crossing in 5 days, 14 hours, 36 minutes and 20 seconds. The crew beat the previous course record set by Hasso Plattner's Morning Glory in 2005 of 6:16:04:11 by over a day.The new record was the result of a very good team led by Neville Crichton. In addition to Ainslie, Crichton's crew included Stan Honey, Michael Coxon, David Endean, Ryan Godfrey, Stan Honey, Andrew Hutchinson, Phil Jameson, Lance Jenkins, Gavin McPherson, Peter Merrington, Murray Spence, Craig Sattherwaite, Joao Signorini, David Rolfe, Tony Mutter and Alfa's shore crew, Ian Goldsworthy. More than half a dozen members of the record-breaking team flew directly from the completion of the 2008/09 Volvo Ocean Race, having set 24-hour monohull records on Ericsson 4, a Volvo Open 70.Transpac 2009
Considering trading a few Rolexes for one AP
Hello AP Forum. I'm considering (upon my return home in a few months) selling/trading the following pieces for a 15450 (37mm), preferably used still under warranty. This watch has mesmerized COMPLETELY.14060 (Sub 2 Line)16060 (Sub Date)Adding cash I was going to spend on a Rolex DJ 6-7kHave I completely lost my mind? I am open to someone speaking some common sense into me, PLEASE. I was originally going to purchase a DJ for my dress watch, but have been staring/drooling over the 15450 for the last 48 hours. I own an SD, so the Sub bug will still be satiated, and I also have a Pepsi and Explorer, so I will still have variety. However, I feel the AP would bring a completely different element to my watch family. Would you all recommend buying NIB from a trusted seller here, or LNIB with some warranty left so I can potentially get the third year warranty via AP, also from a trusted seller?Lastly, correct me if I'm wrong, but the 15450 only comes in a white dial right? That's okay if it doe
A Patek that everyone loves?
With all of the differences in opinions on newer Pateks including the limited pieces, perhaps we should reflect on an older model that everyone seems to love!
PAM000 painted dial
I owned one of the last Base Logo which is the R serial before it was discontinued. It seems that Panerai has switched the sausage dial (embossed from the dial) to the painted dial on a recessed surface to the dial similar to PAM510 / 560 / 590.Was this changes made only towards the end of the production? Or has it always been in this dial but due to the viewing angles of the photo in the internet it looks as if the dial was embossed. Anyway I love the PAM000 that I have regardless of which dial it has. Now I know why a lot of people love the Zeros. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why not sell to the community over the big resellers??
Having only ever bought older/vintage rolex I'm in no position with an AD to receive a Ceramic Daytona or even get on a list. Being in the UK I'm tired of seeing the likes of WatchFinder etc churning out these watches for 16-17k GBP. I'm interested to know if a forum member offered you the same price, as say Watchfinder, would you sell it to them instead? As a community we can enable each other to purchase these watches at better prices with both sides still getting a good deal. You can guess from this post which watch I'm chasing right now. Thanks.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
