Swiss Cubli Takes The Balance Wheel To A New Level
The Cubli isn't a watch, but if you love mechanical timepieces you are going to love this robotic cube. Designed in Zurich and no doubt somewhat inspired by mechanical watch movements, the Cubli is an ultra-modern robot that feels like what happens in Switzerland when people with a focus on the past also focus on the future. When I imagine how the watch industry can better interact with the technology industry I think of something like this. What is Cubli? It is a 15cm perfect cube that moves by itself using a series of spinning wheels. The wheels create momentum but also provide balance due to the power of centripetal force. Not being a physicist I am not going to even attempt to explain how it works using all of the proper terms. What you need to know is that it is amazing to see in action. The result is a cube that "walks" and can stay balanced on a point, even on moving surfaces. In addition to moving and balancing, the Cubli can also jump.Inside the Cubli are what the makers refer
Branding In The Digital Age: Difficult When The World Is Your Community
Choosing a name for a business or logo these days is very difficult. In fact, coming up with good brandable names has always been difficult. One needs to come up with a strong term which is suggestive of the product or service without being too limiting. The process is fulfilling, but more tedious that it seems.Take one of the strongest business names to date: International Business Machines, or IBM. This company started making type writers and now makes the most complex of business computer systems. A name that was as relevant 100 years ago as it is today. Remarkable really. Back then you had to worry about trademarking a name, along with consumer receptivity. Today you need to worry about domain name availability and a much more saturated landscape of taken or generic names. The best branding these days comes from unique uses of existing words, or modifications of existing words. The tech and internet world has brought forth the greatest ingenuity in name branding in the last 10 years
Rory McIlroys AP
Today after his round he had the ROO Chrono in RG on. It was on the rubber strap. Beautiful watch. I wish I had a $50-60k watch when I was 22. Guess when you are playing golf better than anyone in the wold you get those for free. I've seen him in 3 different APs this week. All RO or ROO Chronos.
Omega Moon watch or Tag Heuer Monaco?
I am about to buy my second watch(currently have a 2015 Rolex SD4000)Torn between the classic Moon watch with closed case back and hesalite crystal or the Tag Heuer Monaco chrono with blue dial.Tag is about $700 more expensiveBoth evoke great memories from my youth, both feel great on, but can only afford one.Which should it be?
AD warranty vs Rolex warrenty on new DJ II
Is it true that when ADs discount a watch significantly because it's a discontinued model (in this case the discontinued DJII) Rolex pulls its warrenty? That's what my AD told me today that she would give me a full 5 year warranty but through the AD not through Rolex and that I would not get the warranty card!!It's a BNIB watch with a really nice discount (almost 30%) Is the above true?Does it make sense?Should I go for it?Is it an issue Not having the Rolex warranty card ?Thanks
