Memoirs Of A Watchmaker: Coming Of Age With Horology
I came of age in the 1960's and 1970's in New England. If you asked most of my schoolmates back then what they wanted to be when they grew up, most would have said a fireman, policeman, cowboy, politician, lawyer, doctor, teacher, sailor. just about anything but a watchmaker. The average age of watchmakers in the 1960's and 1970's was around 50 years old, and it seemed, at least in the United States, to be a dying breed, perhaps even an endangered species. Americans didn't value watchmakers as highly skilled technicians, as they did in Switzerland and other European communities, they more or less saw them as the equivalent of a plumber, electrician, house painter or refrigerator repair man. Not something to strive for when you're young didn't seem glamorous like a secret agent, lawyer, or computer punch card operator. or something to get girls with like the lead singer of a rock band.So when my Dad decided when I was 12, to take me to his retail jewelry store on Saturdays to teach m
Open magic is the all-new collection of luxury for women of the DeLaneau watches
Open magic is the all-new collection of luxury for women of the DeLaneau watches. I have a level deep respect for the brand and am waiting for them, we hope to design a watch not sure men would never happen as they seem pretty dedicated to be a watch for glamorous women, by a sophisticated woman.
Forged carbon Ginza or Legacy
Hi all,New here and going through my first purchase of a API often go to Japan with my Job, and have just loved the Ginza the moment I saw it, went to the boutique and put a deposit down. i collect her in October when I'm back in Japan, The clear case back, the dial details etc just love it and limited to 200 so I think would be quite collectableBut I have taken a little shine to the LegacyWhats the thoughts on this watch, with everybody, I did try the watch for size its quite heavy a demerit for me, and the strap also thought was naffWould i be right in thinking although limited not so collectible I see many for saleAppreciate your thoughtsAnd no I cant buy both, taken me long enough to save for my intended Ginza
Stopped in Omega today
So I got rid of my PO 8500 cal. Im currently with out an Omega. I happen to be by the Omega boutique and stopped in. I'm in love with the new Seamaster 300! I use to own this watch, mine was new in 98. It had the wave dial. I realized how much I miss this model. The new version does not have the wave dial, it has the new ceramic bezel and the Lume has been increased. Very clean- What a beautiful watch! I'm sure I'll be adding this watch in the near future.
