Bring a Loupe: An Extraordinary Royal Oak, A Familiar Universal Geneve, And Many Amazing Chronographs From Tudor, Rolex And Movado
This week's Bring A Loupe will be all about amazing vintage watches, featuring many of my absolute favorites, soon to become yours too. You will discover a Royal Oak in platinum, some of the greatest pre-Daytona chronographs from Rolex, and plenty of mythical Movado, LeCoultre, and Universal Geneve watches as well. In my auction picks I also identified two questionable lots, but rest assured that the other pieces will more than make for the early disappointment. This is your Bring a Loupe for July 24, 2015. A Very, Very Rare Royal Oak Jumbo In PLATINUM 1 OF 16 This might be the ultimate Royal Oak, we did warn you four years ago. It looks almost like any other regular Royal Oak Jumbo until you focus on the dial. Surprise, the traditional tapisserie pattern is gone but there is a good reason: this Royal Oak is in PLATINUM! This model was intended as a celebration piece for the 125th anniversary of Audemars Piguet but it met with very limited enthusiasm back in 19
Does my watch need a doctor??
So this watch was serviced by a company with a mixed internet reputation about a year ago (before I bought it). Take a look at the pushers and how they are sitting on their stems (is that the right term?). Notice the one on the right is sitting higher on the stem than the one on the left. It's also a bit spongy in that it has some downward movement when pressed gently. It seems to be well attached to the stem so I don't think it's just going to pop off... Anyone have any thoughts? The watch was serviced a year ago and after buying it, I really can't afford much more of repairs. I thought I would see what you guys here thought before taking it to a shop for an assessment...

Tudor Black Rose and Tudor Black Bay One
I finally found a Ranger bracelet so I can do this with the Black Rose. Here is the Black Bay One. There was around 3000 made of the Black Rose vs 1 made of the Black Bay One. The Black Bay One sold for nearly $400,000. I just needed the ranger bracelet to make mine feel like a one-that way secretly it feels like I have a $400k watch on me :)Do you like this look?
