Classic chronos... which would you choose?
I want to get a traditional looking chrono, bi-compax, but with more modern dimensions. At this point, I am between the Girard Perregaux 1966 Chrono, or the AP Jules Audemars Gstaad Classic. The GP is 42mm and the AP 41mm, so not much difference there. Both have in-house movements, with an add-on chrono module, so again, both are similar there. Besides the looks of the watch, it comes down to what you get for your money. For about the same price, I can get the Girard Perregaux in 18K gold, but besides the brand not being up there with AP, the movement is not as nicely finished as the AP. The AP on the other hand is Titanium (vs 18K), but has a nicer (better?) movement ticking inside. This particular GP has been discontinued, just like the AP, and both can be had at a very good discount BNIB. Which would you choose?
15300 breaking my heart
I returned to Edinburgh, the city of my birth, this weekend for fun, frivolity (and alcohol!) at the annual Festival.Obviously I had to visit the high-end watch shops while I was there (much to the Long-Haired General's delight!) and I made the HUGE mistake of trying on a white dialed AP 15300...Please guys regale me with tales of how awful they are so that I can banish the covetous little demons from my mind!!!
Free Omega!
G O N E !!!!!You are seeing correctly.I have a 1970's vintage Omega Seamaster.Ref. 166.0209Gold plated/filled case, no band, no winding knob. Currently not running. The inside is clean as a whistle.I believe a good cleaning and knob and it will be just fine.Could use some cosmetic work if desired.Link to info I found googling: .omegawatches/planet-o...base?ref=14981Only charge would be for the shipping.Let me know.
Great Service at Panerai Service Center in Dallas?
I've seen quite a few threads on the net about poor service and damaged watches from the Panerai Service Center in Dallas, and mixed in those threads are a few positive comments here and there. Just wondering if this is a case of 'the squeaky wheel gets the grease' type thing. Has anyone had a goor, great or excellent experience with the Panerai Service Center in Dallas? I'm interested because I just bought one with an in house movement and don't have other service options so I'd like to get a feel for what I can expect. Thanks,RogerSent from my iPad (so I blame autocorrect for the spellin' errs)
SS Sky D vs. TT Sky D
What's up that I'm seeing the white face SS Sky D selling for 2k more than the champagne faced TT?Blue face even more...Why the discount on the TT? Nobody wants them? In 2019 the TT for 15k - what will happen if they put on a TT with blue dial? or a different sunburst dial?I don't know. I don't like that at all.I can't be the first to mention.
