What's The Favorite Watch Of Christie's Watch Department Boss?
William (left) with Christie's International Watch Department Head Aurel Bacs (right)& A Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 (middle)Christie's, the renowned auction house, will have yet another "Important Watches" auction event in Geneva on November 11, 2013. Here in New York, I personally received a special preview. I was excited when my good friend, John Reardon (Senior Vice-President, Head of Christie's New York Watch Department), invited me to today's preview event. From past experience, I knew that I would have the chance to see and touch some of the world's finest timepieces which once again equates to a lot of Patek Philippes and Rolexes. While taking in the watches (more on that later) John introduced me to Aurel Bacs, the Head of Christie's International Watch Department. Known throughout the watch world for his discerning eye, I had to ask about his favorite watch. When a man is surrounded by millions of dollars of spectacular watches all day, every day- what gets him excited?Patek
Water in my 1967 Omega Speedmaster - advice please!!
I have unfortunately got some water in my 1967 Omega Speedmaster cal 321, while showering.I took the back off and it has dried out, but it only runs for about an hour before stopping and requiring encouragement to run again. What is the possible damage and what would be advisable to get it running smoothly again? Thanks in advanceDavid KennedyFarnham, UK
Looking at the entire range, I can't help but feel
That they just don't make them like they used to.IMHO among the last great Pateks:
Trade off did not materialize, and so... incoming!!
Some of you will remember that I was offered a 16710 with both Coke and Pepsi inserts for a trade for my 114060. Long story short, the interested trade party vanished and trade did not materialize. In the meantime, I was offered another 16710 Coke and if I'm honest, I fell for its charms. Picked her up tonight and put her through a soap scrub; ready for some quick pictures! And here is the new addition to the little family, along with her trade sister:
