Vacheron Constantin Announces “World’s Most Complicated Watch:” Here’s a Glimpse
On Sept. 17 in Geneva, at a celebration marking its 260th anniversary, Vacheron Constantin will present what it calls the most ingenious and sophisticated mechanical watch ever made. Ahead of the launch, Vacheron has released some preliminary information about the watch to a small number of watch publications around the world, including WatchTime. (It did not provide an image of the watch.)Here's what we know. The watch, which Vacheron says has two dials, has been created entirely in-house by three VC watchmakers, who worked on it for eight years. The watch was commissioned by a prominent, as-yet-unnamed collector. It incorporates, Vacheron says, entirely new and unique complications representing the most significant technical advancements in watchmaking in modern times. The new complications had to be calculated, designed and developed from scratch. Thus a completely new caliber of movement was created unlike any seen before. Interested in thoughts on a Breitling chronograph
A member here got me interested in the now-discontinued a13340 Breitling Superocean chronograph. I'm curious as to what folks here think of it, as compared to (for example) a Tudor 79260. The Breitling has a Caliber 13 movement, based on the well-known ETA Valjoux 7750 movement. My understanding is that Tudor has also used the 7750 for its chrono's from time to time. This Breitling has a vintage, golden-age-of-aviation (1930's) vibe that really appeals to me, especially on a Breitling leather Croc strap. If I can find a reasonably-priced one (mid 2's), think it's worth a try?
is this tritium or radium?
I had always thought that my Omega cal 600 had tritium lume on the dial considering the fact that it was produced in 1960, however i have never been totally sure.
I for one am hoping for a sub redesign...
.... at Basel 2019 or perhaps 2020. Slimmer lugs, thinner case and new movement please - that would be the cherry on top. I've owned 4 maxi case references, including PM, and all of them were flipped at some point PURELY due to how the square case looked on my 7 wrist. It always just looked like the watch was wearing me, as opposed to me wearing the watch. And it was frustrating to finally realise it, since they're all great watches. For now DJ41 and a soon to be added Tudor Blackbay 58 will keep me satisfied. Anyone else wishing for newer Rolex sport watches closer in dimensions to the 5-digit references of yesteryear?
