Oris Aquis Depth Gauge Watch
Capillary-style depth gauges are nothing new or particularly advanced, but they are simple and effective. Oris has managed to design one into one of its dive watches. The result is a mechanical watch with a non-electronic depth gauge that does not cost an arm and a leg. IWC and Jager-LeCoultre already proved to us that they can make those - and that is fantastic - but they were a complication for complication's sake because even if you choose to dive with a luxury watch, you probably aren't going to want to rely on it as your depth gauge. When Panerai released theirs, they simply circumvented the entire issue by keeping prices high and sticking in an electronic depth gauge module. In fact, that was pretty smart of them. This new diver is called the Oris Aquis Depth Gauge and is just that. Oris has a load of pretty good dive watches but there are a lot of them and many have seemingly small differences. On top of that, they exist in a few model families which exacerbates my confusion. Planet Ocean 8500 rubber strap and deployant MSRP
Does anyone happen to know the MSRP for the rubber strap and deployant buckle for the 45mm 8500 PO? I know what they go for on ofrei, but might be in the area of some dealers next week and if any of them had the straps in stock I wanted to know what the price comparison would be. TIA!

Just picked it up today from local AD. Got a slight discount. It will be a daily watch, how easily does the clasp scratch? I work on a mac and I'm afraid the keyboard part were I rest my hand will scratch against it. PP_5167A_1.jpgPP_5167A_2.jpgPP_5167A_3.jpg
BLNR rejection at AD
Whilst visiting my local AD today I witnessed a customer who had arrived at the dealer after getting the call that his new Rolex GMT BLNR had just arrived! Whilst he was left alone for a few minutes to look at the BLNR in more detail I took the opportunity to make comment on the watch. To cut a long story short, he was underwhelmed when he saw the watch in the flesh and actually passed on the opportunity to buy the watch! He was wearing a black faced explorer II and thought the BLNR was too small in comparison. He also thought the blue was brighter than he had expected and didn't think it was a watch he could use for everyday wear like the explorer. He had intended to trade his explorer against the BLNR but in the end decided to put the safety catch back on and not pull the trigger! I couldn't believe what I was witnessing.I guess it was a lucky day for the guy next on the list. During a chat over a coffee with one of the owners of the AD about the usual availability of SS models and B
