Hands-On: With The Girard-Perregaux Chamber Of Wonders Collection
Artistic work when it comes to mechanical watches isn’t for everyone. But it is certainly a noteworthy craft if you consider the amount of effort and skill that is required to make artistic timepieces finer, more rare and unique. Such is the case with dial work, and Girard-Perregaux offered three solid choices in artistic craft with its Chamber of Wonders Collection this year. This should come as no surprise from Perregaux, whose enamel works we introduced last year. The collection is composed of three pieces, each in similar 40 mm fine polished pink-gold cases. The lugs have a steep curve to them and hug the wrist very well. The dials are finely crafted works of pigmented fine stone. 1 OF 5 The first is dubbed the Pearl of Wonders. It is a reproduction of a map drawn in the first half of the 15th century by historian Ibn al-Wardi, and it is inspired by Ptolemaic astronomy. Bodies of water and important geography centered on the Arabian Peninsula are sketched out in
Planet Ocean and Aqua Terra bracelet
Hi!I've got Planet Ocean 42mm. Is Aqua Terra's (38,5) steel bracelet suitable for it? It's little bit different and I'd like to have it in Planet Ocean. Thanks in advance
Guidance on a pre-owned Aquanaut
Have the opportunity to acquire a 2011 Aquanaut, model 5167 18-001, the so called jumbo. Pic below, not mine but I believe this photo is the model. Tried it on at AD, great condition, watch has had a Patek servicing, comes with original owner papers, highly reputable dealer in NJ, so I'm confident in the transaction. Price is just under $15k. Good deal?
Panerai America's Cup Watches
I am curious if these watches are or will be something special. I have found one trading over MSRP and little or no hype elsewhere. Curious as to others thoughts here.
Would anybody buy a full platinum yachtmaster II?
I recently bought a Rolex Yachtmaster II SS. So far I'm loving it but I also came across a platinum day date a few days ago and that thing is HEAVY!! I love the weight of it. Now I'm wondering if rolex would ever make a full platinum yachtmaster 2 with the ceramic blue bezel... not liking the platinum bezel on the white gold models. What do you guys think about a full platinum Rolex yachtmaster II? Would it be a little too heavy?
