Greubel Forsey Takes a Subtler Approach with its Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision
The name Greubel Forsey conjures up many images among horological connoisseurs but classically simple dials and elegantly thin cases are probably not among them at least until now. With the release of the Greubel Forsey Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision, the 11-year-old brand founded by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey proves that it can do “quiet” just as well as it does “loud.”Introduced at SIHH 2015, alongside such super-complex timepieces as the new GMT Black and QP Equation, the Greubel Forsey Tourbillon 24 Secondes Vision drew immediate attention for its comparative simplicity. However, it would be a mistake to characterize it as the most “ordinary” piece in the brand’s lineup (who knew we’d ever get to a point in the watch world when any watch with a tourbillon could be considered ordinary) the renowned Greubel Forsey inventiveness is indeed on display here, only in much subtler ways, for the most part.Of course, there is the de
SIHH: Images from A. Lange & S?hne
During my visit with A. Lange & S?hne at SIHH last week, I had an opportunity to snap some images in and around the booth, including a few of the new timepieces. The big story this year is the brand’s 165th anniversary and the three Homage to F.A. Lange pieces in Lange’s proprietary honey gold. The new Annual Calendar was also very well received. To be read at night, the Phantom’s numbers must glow, but charging the luminescent material is a challenge when the numbers are hidden behind the dial most of the time. Lange solved the problem by creating the dial from a “reverse sunglasses” material that allows UV light through,
INCOMING and OUTGOING. APs and Elephants and Pandas OH MY!
OK, so after a month or so contemplating I have finally pulled the trigger. I am currently in consolidation mode. So despite the fact that I have an exciting piece coming in- I am still a bit sad to see my Panda go.The Jumbo 15202ST will be arriving on Friday Once again, special thanks to my good friend Thanh (Takuya AKA Thanh Do). This is the fourth or fifth watch I have purchased through Thanh and every transaction is just perfect. If you are interested in buying a watch - you would be crazy not to talk to Thanh. This is a good week for me - I received my BNIB PP 5726/1a yesterday (from Thanh) and on Friday as I mentioned will be receiving the gorgeous, iconic and classic AP Royal Oak 15202ST Jumbo (btw, most people probably assumed I meant the gray/gray 42mm ROO but to me for some reason Jumbo reminds me of Dumbo and elephants came to mind ) and I will be saying goodbye to my AP 42MM ROO Panda Chrono I have my eye set currently on a nice dress watch in the range of 25-35k on a stra
