AP Clearwater Service - Thumbs Up!
I just wanted to share my recent experience with AP Clearwater and their service. I've sent watches in to RSC Dallas and PASC Ft. Worth so I do have some experience with OEM service. I must say AP had the most professional and attentive customer service that I've ever experienced. They answered all of my numerous emails and calls, and were always courteous and professional. I've posted a bit about this before because I had a slightly unusual situation, but now that my watch is back home, I couldn't be happier!I bought my E-series ROC 25860 from a watch shop owner in Chicago. It was his personal watch dating back to about 1998 or so. It had a green octagonal box but no papers. I wasn't even sure the box belonged with the watch, but an email to AP confirmed that it actually did ecause this was before the wooden boxes! The major pre-purchase issue was that the chronograph didn't advance past 1 minute so it was sent to a non-AP watchmaker who repaired it before I bought it. I can at
Deciding on my First AP
Hi All,I am a new member on the Rolex forums, but have been a Rolex and Panerai owner for a few years.I am about to turn 30 and thought what better way to bring in this unwanted milestone than with my first AP.I work in Finance and am partial to more traditional looking pieces, hence I've kind of ruled out the Offshore models...but I still like the masculinity of the ROs, although find the 15202 abit too dainty. The Royal Oak Day Date Steel has definitely caught my eye, I find it a great mix of sport and elegance...naturally I am a fan of the 15300...but not particularly partial to the new 15400, as I find they've taken a step back in design and proportions...I am also quite into the ROCsCan anyone help with suggestions? and more so, is there a reason the Day Date is not too commonly found? is it not a desirable piece amongst collectors? Thanks in Advance!Brett
New Omega (AD) 3603 movement-Disappointed!
Purchased my Speedmaster Solar Impulse from an AD less than two weeks ago, and while looking at it last night was dismayed to see the minute chronograph hand (in the 30-minute dial) sticking at 28 minutes. I reset the stop watch functions twice and did the same thing. On the third time, the dial finally went past 28 and has been functioning well...so far. What gives, Omega??? Never had any problems with my hand-wound Rolex and automatic Rolex watches, although none of them are Daytonas. The Daytona is somewhat small for my wrist--which is why I went with the 44.25mm Speedmaster. My confidence in Omega is starting to dwindle. The watch will probably go to Omega for warranty work.
I love this Forum: New Aquanaut
Thanks to a fellow forum member I got a lead on a new 5167 in stock at his local AD. I called yesterday morning, they told me it was on hold for another client who just had to get funds together. They called me about 45 minutes before shipping deadline and told me the guy passed on it, so I pounced. The AD I had contacted prior told me 6-9 months wait time, so it was a score to not have to wait. This is my second Aquanaut and this time I'm not letting it go!! Let it go last time to partially fund a larger purchase and always regretted doing it. Here she is moments after I had the strap cut, and I wasted no time getting it used to its own element. 81 degrees in So Cal today.
What would you pair with an Explorer 1? (Submariner vs DaytonaC)
I have a Rolex Explorer 1 and am looking to add either a Daytona or Sub to my collection. I’ve been debating this for a while but I really love both. Some thoughts:-No date sub and black Daytona only (no hulk, white dialed Daytona, other watches, etc)-Robustness, waterproofness, etc is not important (I have other watches, but I don’t want to post my collection and have people try to avoid overlap etc)-I understand they are priced different, let’s ignore that-not having a date is unimportant, I never look at it anyways. If you could pair either the No-Date Sub 114060 or black Daytona 116500 with an Explorer 1, which would it be and more importantly WHY?.
