Arnold & Son’s HMS1 Collection Strives for Classical Elegance
Arnold & Son, the Swiss watch brand based in La Chaux-de-Fonds and named for 18th-century London watchmaker John Arnold, has released a new collection of elegantly simple watches called HMS1. The name harks back to John Arnold’s history as a supplier of marine chronometers to the British Royal Navy.The quartet of new watches includes two in stainless steel cases, with a white or anthracite dial ($9,885 and $10,095, respectively); one in an 18k rose gold case with an anthracite dial ($15,165); and one in an 18k white gold case with a silver-colored dial ($16,640). All the cases are 40 mm in diameter, water-resistant to 30 meters, and feature curved sapphire crystals with nonreflective coating on both sides as well as sapphire exhibition casebacks.The watches contain Arnold & Son’s in-house, hand-wound movement, Caliber A&S1001, which powers the hours, minutes and small seconds display at 6 ‘clock on the dial. A little experiment...
Greetings TRF,I have posted a few threads over the past months where I'd buy new bands for my watches. However, lately I've been thinking about doing things a bit differently...I found this gold plated bracelet on Ebay and thought I would give it a try. Given that I have a few gold watches I thought that one of them would be able to handle it and surprisingly it seems like my AP, despite its very thin case, can be worn on it without looking too odd (in my humble opinion, that is). I understand that it may sound a bit strange to put a gold watch from that company on such a cheap bracelet but I'm that type of man, I personally like the look of it and I think life is too short to avoid trying new things out every once in a while. I'll let you all comment and give your honest opinion on that new combo. Fear not, the leather band is still around and already ready to be put back on when needed. Speedmaster Pro loose sweeping second hand
Hi all. My Speedmaster Pro has recently started acting up. When I start the sweeping second hand, it gets stuck after 2 seconds. If I stop and start, it will restart. When stuck, if I tap the watch against my hand on the 6 o'clock side of the watch, the hand will move to that side. I don't think the hand is loose because the issue is intermittent (wishful thinking).Thoughts? Anyone know a good watch guy in the SJ Bay Area?
