Blancpain CEO Marc Hayek Takes Podium at Silverstone
Blancpain CEO Marc Hayek and driving partner Peter Kox drove their Lamborghini Gallardo to another win in the Super Trofeo auto racing series at the historic Silverstone (UK) road course last weekend. The fourth event in the series took place within the context of the British F3/GT Championship. Renowned for its varied race course enabling top speeds of 190+ mph, Silverstone welcomes all kinds of competitions throughout the year including the MotoGP, Superbike and World Aerobatic championships. To celebrate the championship racing series, Blancpain introduced the 300 piece limited edition Super Trofeo flyback chronograph at Basel this year. The 43.5mm DLC case houses a NAC-treated Caliber F185 movement with black mainplate and bridges. When you think of the watches coming from New Zealand-based Magrette, you might be tempted to write them off as "seen one, seen them all." While it is true that they follow a particular design style, there are some interesting variations across the lineup (not to mention the heavily-engraved series). Their latest, the Magrette Regattare Carbon, definitely ups the ante for the brand.As you might surmise from the name of the watch, carbon fiber makes its debut here for the brand. I think I came across a video of Aurel Bacs interview at SIHH 40 min to be exact . The question asked was about the morality of such an expensive watch ie the Paul Newman his answer was centered around charity , stating some of the proceeds going to charity . Also made mention Most importantly the buyer of the watch and how much charity they provide so I was thinking Rolex contributes a lot of their profit to charity,so with that would that make Rolex the buyer of the Paul Newman Paul Newman just a thought .
