Piaget Polo Key Dive Watch Available On James List
A Piaget dive watch?! Oh yes, and here is the proof. Get ready to go underwater in your black bow tie. I was pretty amazed to discover this watch that was made in the mid 1990s. It is very difficult to find information on this watch by the way. I believe it is called the Piaget Polo Key, but it is Ref. 250020 no. GOA22036. I think it is pretty neat - but how primitive does the case look by today's standards? So would you wear a Piaget diver? The case is 38mm wide in 18k yellow gold with elements on the rotating diver's bezel in 18k white gold. That two-toning is rather cool. There is also the reserve version of the watch with a mostly 18k white gold with yellow gold accents. That other model seemed to have a vastly different dial - which makes it clear that this watch was the beginning of the Piaget Polo 45 of the modern era. Did they have CNCs machines for case making back then? Not sure...The black dialed version is my favorite. It has tasteful applied gold hour markers and dauphine h
The Old World Benzinger Way Of Luxury Watch Production
Watch news is always filled with stories of innovation, exotic materials, new complications, and novel ways of displaying information. While "new" is often exciting, there is something splendidly serene about seeing traditional, as opposed to modern, watch art. There was a time around the turn of the 20th century when watch making went in two directions. While watches began to lower in cost enough to become available to many more people, the ultra rich needed something to brag about. Hence came a golden age in the long history of watch decorations. While this was by no means a new endeavor as "engraving" really started in the 15th and 16th centuries, it was a time to become uniquely creative and literally shove as much detail on each available empty space on watches and other items as well. While this design ethic is the absolute antithesis of "minimalism," it is a testament to one's dedication to their craft. Today the rise of industrialization has all but eliminated the role of the c
Just Arrived: My first Patek....Yes, it's an another....
5167I'm at the next phase of my horological experience or WISdom. What's better than to celebrate with a Patek! Here are a few quick observation from wearing it for the last 6 hours:+40mm on 7 1/2 wrist = Perfection!+The chameleon black/grey dial is unreal. Must have looked at the dial over 100 times today but still don't know what time it is.+The swooshing sound from the rotor is music to my ears.+Is it strange that I was smelling the strap during a meeting?+I can forget the Surefire flashlight. The lume will be sufficient to light my way in the dark.+Already have small scratch on the bezel. Hallelujah, now that's over with I can enjoy this watch. Every watch should come pre-scratched!
Been thinking lately...
I have a 311 that will be arriving this Wednesday. It has taken me several months to pay for the watch because my business has been tough over the summer, now that it's finally picking up again I can afford to pay it off and actually wear the watch. I've been thinking lately that since I have a fairly high end Pam in my 233 that I might flip the brand new 311 and get a 351 and 113 instead. Granted I've yet to see the 311 on the wrist but not sure I need to be wearing a $20k+ watch when I could have two more Pams and still have money in my pocket. What do you all think? Keep it or flip and buy two others?
Lets Speculate!
Evening TRF,I've read on this forum that many of you expect the price of the SS Rolex models to increase in 2018. As many of you here are veteran Rolex buyers, where do you think the prices will go next year, especially the Sky Dweller and Ceramic Daytona? I note that the MSRP for the Sky Dweller is $14,400, Daytona $12,400, Sub date $8,550, and Hulk, $9050, to name a few popular models (note: I had to double check that Daytona price. Amazing.). What's normal for Rolex year to year? 5%? 10%?Best,TA
