Ulysse Nardin Aquires Dial Enameler Donz Cadrans
After many years at the helm of Donz Cadrans, Francine and Michel Vermot have decided to retire, selling their 100 percent stake to Ulysse Nardin. UN says this move will secure the long-term future of the business and its know-how, placing it in the hands of the company which renewed interest in the art of enameling in the eighties and has played a major role in the growth of Donz Cadrans.Perhaps no other luxury watch brand creates as many varied enamel dials as Ulysse Nardin. Mention enamel dials, and many collectors will think first of San Marco Chronometers with deep blue dials, or with dials honoring great sailing ships.Ulysse Nardin Chief Executive Officer Patrik Hoffmann noted: “The acquisition of Donz Cadrans maintains our strategy of continuity and vertical production, while reflecting our heritage and tradition of our Manufacture.”The acquisition will provide Ulysse Nardin with additional cloisonn and grand-feu enamel expertise. Wolf Designs Viceroy 6 Piece Watch Winder Review
An interesting fact that I've come to learn is that many people (even quite a few watch loving people) have no idea what a watch winder is. It is one of those things that you can show people, in action, and they still don't know what it is. I've actually had people come to my office and see a bunch of watches in winders on shelves and remark "oh really? You have to show them off like that?" Which I later learned (after some probing) was a misunderstanding thinking that a watch on a winder was some special way of displaying them in a fancy manner. I just can't anticipate misunderstandings like that in advance. It is possible that I take for granted knowing what a mechanical watch is, and that I know how it works. There isn't a lot of sense required (in my opinion) to understand that a little weight in a watch movement winds it when you move your wrist around. Further, if you are not wearing the watch on your wrist, you can artificially create the movement necessary to keep that watch wou
Got my dream Breitling this week!
I have wanted the Breitling Blackbird ever since I first got into watches. I finally found the deal I have been looking for, and better yet, it was a black-eye blue-dial version with blue croco deployment strap! I love the pilot bracelet so now I can swap my 355A from my Headwind with the croco strap when I want as well.
Incoming 5990
they do come in batches... happy to add mine to the few deliveries on the forum that have happened recently.Absolutely love the watch. To me its big, without being overwhelming. Its sporty and casual and can also be dressed up too. In some ways its my most versatile watch. If i had to go somewhere in one trip and was going to the beach, somewhere where i would be wearing a suit, and then out on the town and could only take one watch, this would be the one. All the best complications combined into one watch.
After Market Straps and Buckles?
My Panerai will be the first watch where I would switch out the strap. After seeing so many photos with different style straps, I have to admit I want to have a varied collection for different looks. I'll have 2 or 3 genuine Panerai straps, but looking to supplement them with the many after market straps I see online and on Ebay. I also don't want to pay regular prices for a deployment clasp, so looking to get an after market version of that as well. What do you guys think about after market straps and buckles?
