Former Vertu Luxury Phone Designer Joins MetaWatch For the Meta "Premium" Smartwatch
It is 2014 and guess what, the people making smartwatches are about ready for them to become mainstream. MetaWatch is going down that road with a new line of "real people friendly" smartwatches known simply as the "Meta." The real question is whether mainstream consumers are ready for it too. 2013 was the year the smartwatch made headlines. We saw the ultra indie success of watches like the Pebble, and the big boys make a serious entrance into the smartwatch market with the Samsung Galaxy Gear and the Sony Smartwatch 2. If 2013 was the year the public became aware of the smartwatch, will 2014 be the year the public actually wants to wear them? There are two major challenges for smartwatches right now. First, is functionality and second is fashionability. While the latter might sound less intellectual, it is just as important because these are things people are actually going to wear. It is generally agreed that most smartwatches are still developing with regards to their utility and fun
Oris Col Moschin Limited Edition Watch Hands-On
The green, white, and red colors of the power reserve indicator disc are a subtle reminder that this new limited edition watch from Oris has something to do with Italy. The dive watch is actually made as a limited edition piece with the Col Moschin in mind. Col Moschin is the Italian special forces. The only one that they have I believe. They seem pretty bad-ass (duh), and are known for having a very arduous training regiment. Col Moschin is also known as the Italian 9th Parachute Assault Regiment (you can read more about them here). While most of the elements from the Oris Col Moschin limited edition watch are taken from other Oris dive models, there are a few unique elements that makes the watch worth looking at.In mostly titanium, the watch is 49mm wide. It doesn't wear that big due to the thick bezel. Oris has a special ring grip around the bezel that it calls the "Rotation Safety System." Part of the outer bezel is in tungsten. The point of the system is to prevent the bezel from
The Dynamic Omega
Unique... funky... and innovative; a classic or a footnote? After searching this forum for the better part of my lunch hour, I’m certain of at least one thing: hardly anybody talks about the Dynamic. In the 1970s it reigned as one of Omega's best-selling time pieces; an Omega flagship that captured the spirit of that decadent cocaine-using, disco-dancing, lapel-wearing decade. I can only imagine the ridicule one must have endured by wearing one of those conformist establishment watches (picture Rolex explorer) while dancing at Studio 54. You either wore a forward-looking watch like the Dynamic or you were a narc. But 40 years later, the Dynamic seems to be all but forgotten; tragic casualties of fashion like its much maligned bell-bottomed brethren. It's taken a back seat in the Omega mini-van, if not being kicked out of it altogether, for the likes of its historic sibling Moon Watch, the (now 007-endorsed) Seamaster, and the ever-elegant Constellation. Begging the question: Wh
5167 availability in U.K.?
Hi allAlways admired but have never really considered it on my wrist until recently. I currently own a Sub and Daytona (which I wouldn't let go of) but still find myself looking at the 5167 more and more.Finances mean I can't fund one presently but this forum and the 5167 comments / photos is doing a great job of making my mind up to commit to myself on focusing in on purchasing one within the next year. Can anyone advise on availability in the U.K.?Thanks
Passed on SD43 and not regretting it!
My AD camled this morning and said he has a SD43 if I'm interested! It took me a second to consider it then told him to give me till Monday to think about it. Honestly I think I will turn it down as I have a subC which I love and I think someone else who has been really wanting this watch will enjoy it more than meAm I crazy in my thinking?
