Panerai Says "FU" With Limited Edition PAM336 Watch For China
Probably good that Panerai doesn't sell an "FU" watch in the western world as we are probably going to take it as a signal of their amusement that we are putting up with their prices. No, Panerai doesn't even care too much about the English speaking world for the time being. Richemont, and other luxury watch groups have their sights securely set on (primarily) China, and other parts of Asia, given the fact that the only excitement in watch sales to be seen now is coming from those regions of the world. Each brand is vying for the attention and respect of the Chinese consumer - who is fundamentally a different animal than that the western consumer as I understand it. I hear tales of how Chinese consumers actually understand the mechanics of watches, know the values, and have keen eyes for details. Scary stuff for some watch retailers and some brands! Actually this is good. Not that people like us are without knowledge, but we aren't exactly the "typical" watch buyer here in the states (

Ernst Benz Releases The ChronoDiver Thinking It Is Being Innovative And Unique: It's Not
Ernst Benz is like an estranged cousin of Panerai with little bloodline connection. It makes a heap of really large watches with "instrumental" appeal, but unlike Panerai, the watches typically suffer from being appropriate without being very unique. Oh, and they are overpriced, in my opinion. The newest from Ernst Benz is the new ChronoDiver collection, with a name as dry as the watch themselves. There is actually nothing at all wrong with the watches. They are a pretty good emulation of a theme. That theme being the diving watch chronograph. The thing is, for the over $5,000 retail price, where is any character of innovation? You get a 47mm wide case, a number font that looks to be Ernst Benz-ish, and perhaps come concentric circle texturing on the dial. Otherwise, we've all seen this design hundreds of times before.So what gives? Ernst Benz did need a diving watch for their line up. Like many, I love this watch. But I'm having a hard time finding information about the different versions of this reference. What's more valuable? The small seconds version or the sweeping seconds version? I also regularly see two versions of the small seconds version. Is one more desired than the other? Grey market watches automatic void warranty?
Just came across this article. It states when you buy a watch from an authorized dealer, you also get a little green card with your information and the Authorized Dealer's stamp. This warranty card is just not transferable anymore since the Rolex warranty policy update.As a consequence, when you buy a Rolex from the grey market, you do not have any more a warranty coming with your watch. Even if you have that Rolex warranty green card, even if this card wasn't filled out and that you can enter your name. But that's not it yet, if you buy a Rolex preowned, the warranty is void as well and even if it is still theoretically under warranty as you weren't the original owner in the first place. It then goes on to say Rolex checks it this way : when you buy a Rolex watch at an AD, they photocopy the filled in green warranty card and send it to Rolex. Whenever a watch is sent under warranty, Rolex checks for that photocopy and it has to match your name. If they don't have your card in their
