Bell & Ross Vintage PW1 and WW1
Reimagining military watches of the 1920s, Bell & Ross has created two nostalgic yet modern timepieces: the Vintage PW1 pocket watch, and the WW1 wristwatch. Both pieces combine vintage styling cues with the unmistakable Bell & Ross design codes to produce a distinctive look. Find prices and availability dates inside. As you may have guessed, PW1 stands for Pocket Watch 1, and WW1 for Wrist Watch 1. As Bell & Ross designer Bruno Belamich explains: “We are delving into the past even more in order to round out our collection. The military watch has been our passion since our early days and we are looking to reinvent the first models of these wristwatches which appeared on pilots’ wrists in the 1920s.” The Vintage WW1 pays tribute to this era and takes its inspiration from the stylistic designs of the roaring twenties, without appearing dated.PW1 measures 49mm, and the case is polished steel. The dial is domed, in galvanic black, with a sunburst finish. The i
A New Respect For Quartz Movement Watches: From Spring To Battery
I think it's time for the hard-core mechanical watch enthusiast to give their distant cousin - quartz watches - a little more respect. I guess in my own way, I'm as guilty as the next guy, when it comes to comparing mechanical watches to quartz watches. When I was in the watch repair business, I flatly refused to take in quartz watches, and felt it below my standards as a watchmaker to change a battery in a quartz watch. I felt that quartz watches would make watchmakers obsolete, and in a way it actually did.In the 1970s and 1980s, the population of watchmakers, particularly in the USA, dropped off to endangered species numbers. If it had been 20 years later, you'd have college kids chaining themselves to Macy's Department store, demanding that we save the watchmakers. This snobbery carried into the 1990s, and the new breed of watch enthusiasts looked down their collective noses at quartz watches. It might also be a good moment to look at the watches-dealer list of the top 10 mos
Hard decision: 15400 or 15400or
Hi all.I got a Daytona SS, white dial V serial and would like to buy a dark dial watch. I really like the 15400 ( actually I tried on the 15300 in St. Barth. It was ok but I think I need the 41mm). Im between the 15400 blue or black dial ( blue dial would be my choice but its like 2k usd more expensive. Not sure if it worths) or 15400or ( black dial with brown leather strap if possible. Do you guys know if I can replace it easily?) . Daytona was always my dream especially the white dial which was soo rare in 90's... anyway ,nowadays I only wear the Daytona for day time.. beach places, wearing shorts or light color clothes. In my opnion the white dial is hard to fit with dark clothes ( I only wear dark clothes at night LOL). What do you guys think? Should I get the 15400 SS black or blue because I can swim with it and also wear at night..etc.. or I should get the 15400or black dial which I can't swim but on the other hand is very nice..etc. ? The 15400 all gold inclusive the band is ou
Oysterquartz stopped running
My 17000 oysterquartz with serial from 1999 just died on me.Before it died it was running quite badly at 2 seconds per week.I sent it to Rolex and got quote back $1,400.They say it needs full service and circuit replacement.Circuit alone is around $600.Bought it for just over $2,800. Should i get it fixed?Love the watch, but does servicing that cost half the cost of the whole watch make sense?
First Rolex watch choices?
Hi all, I am new to this forum. This is in fact my first post. I plan on purchasing a Rolex date just floated bezel with the silver dial.I came across a few posts where by wearing a Rolex to work and social planned might affect the people around me and show me as a jerk. Reading all those posts sort of confused me , honestly, a few of my coworkers are quite jealous and I don't want it to move further but wearing a Rolex. At the same time, I personally feel that I want a date just because that's the watch of my choice . To stay low on the radar, I thought why not get a Rolex explorer since it has a black dial and I can stay low and people will not know that I've a Rolex. What do you guys recommend? Honestly I don't care what my coworkers think, however I do feel that it could impact me somehow, that's why I'm confused. I need your opinions and thoughts and I would really appreciated if you could respond. Thanks,Dan
