Van Cleef & Arpels Jules Verne Les Voyages Watches
Each year Van Cleef & Arpels releases a series of limited edition watches that revolve around a certain theme. One of the themes this year was Jules Verne and the concept of discovery and exploration. To this end Van Cleef & Arpels created a few limited edition models to memorialize some of the places that Jules Verne described in his writings. There are also a few other pieces that expand on the concept of the exploration theme.Pictured here are some of the pieces that directly address the stories of Jules Verne. This is not however a depiction of the entire collection. There are two types of watches here. Two that contain more standard Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 846 three-hand automatic mechanical movements, and two that contain a special retrograde hour and minute movement that is based on a small JLC movement and has an exclusive to Van Cleef & Arpels module in it. These latter pieces have a retrograde hour hand on the left of the dial, and a retrograde hour hand on the r
Kobold Polar Surveyor In Arctic Blue 50% Off Retail On Ebay: Auction Ends Dec-10-07 15:04:40 PST
I have had a bit of a fixation on Kobold Watches since I first learned about them several years ago. They represent what most men want in a watch. Good looks, rugged construction, and a classic style which is anything but boring. Even though the Kobold watch company is new (in watch years), they have been able to achieve so much, and are truly a modern watch company. Especially considering they are one of the only watch companies that allow you to purchase direct from the factory.Kobold Watch is an American watch company. Headquartered in Pittsburgh, Kobold watches use Swiss parts with American insight. Kobold is led by the younger Michael Kobold, who has become quite the watch celebrity. Showcasing his favorite pieces on the wrists of many celebrities. The truth is, he didn't have to work very hard at it, because these are remarkable watches. As such, James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano) and Kiefer Sutherland (Jame Bauer on "24" wore a PVD Kobold Phantom Tactical) have proudly displayed th
Should I complain to Omega?
HiJust wondering if anybody has ever complained to Omega about a fault with there watch?I have just come back from holidaying in Mexico where I bought a PLANET OCEAN 600 M OMEGA CO-AXIAL CHRONOGRAPH 45.5 MM from the OMEGA Boutique La Boutique Palacio at Fashion Harbour La Isla, Blvd. This was bought on Saturday the 27th December. I only wore it on the Saturday night, then again on the Sunday night. On the monday night while in a restaurant I noticed that the bottom chronograph pusher was sticking out unusually far. I took my watch off to investigate and to my horror could pull the pusher right out of the watch as it had become detached!!! I had never even pressed this button since owning the watch as the shop set the time and date!!This was not what I was expecting from a 3 day old Omega watch. I was flying home the next day so didn't have chance to go back to the shop so I have had to take it to my local dealer to send back to Omega.I'm not one to usually complain but I'm really annoy
I just fell in love with this
I never see this watch mentioned anywhere but I think someday over the rainbow....
Aquanaut Toughness?
How tough is the Aquanaut?I was a long-time wannabe PP owner until I finally bought a 5127J last year. After owning just Rolex watches, I've wanted that Calatrava for a while because I think it is very refined. Now I have the sickness. PP's are worse than Lay's. You know you can't have just one. I was/am a Rolex wearer and own several. I've slowly started giving them away to family members. Now that I'm middle-aged and don't have fantasies of living a life of action and adventure and am a family man, the appeal of Rolex is diminishing while that of PP is growing. So my question to everyone here: How tough is the Aquanaut? Would you say it is as robust as the Submariner? Can it take a beating? By which I mean travel, some diving (not below 60M...it is a diving watch after all), carrying stuff (kids, boxes, usual rubbish), and normal day to day wear. I'm not a Navy Seal or anything like that. I'm not going to be jumping out of planes and rolling around in hand to hand combat
