Two for the Road: A Pair of Titanium Ingenieurs from IWC
For the new timepieces in its re-tooled Ingenieur collection, IWC Shaffhausen wanted a direct connection to Formula One auto racing, in both the watches’ design and in the materials used to make them. Hence the use of carbon fiber, high-tech ceramics, and, for two of its new models, titanium.Like all of the new IWC Ingenieur watches, launched at this year’s SIHH watch fair in Geneva, the design and construction of the Ingenieur Double Chronograph Titanium and Ingenieur Dual Time Titanium are influenced by IWC’s partnership with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One racing team. The distinctive bezels feature five screws, instead of the more traditional bores, which secure the bezels firmly to the titanium cases. IWC was among the first to introduce titanium to the watch industry in the early 1980s, recognizing the same properties that make it popular in the automobile industry: lightness (half the weight of stainless steel), resistance to corrosion and magnetism, and
SIHH 2013 Thoughts
Hey Guys,Any thoughts on what's going to be presented at SIHH 2013 aside from the ROO Grande Complication? There were some rumors of an all-ceramic version of the 44mm ROO, that would be sweet! I am hoping for some new 44mm versions, however, I kinda doubt it since they already have SS, FC, RG and PT versions. Maybe something with color like Volcano or Bumblebee??
Got my new Omega! Two-tone beauty...
OK guys,I have been searching long and hard and have come close a couple times to some Omegas that I thought I liked as a long term daily wearer but now that things have settled down at my work place I pulled the trigger on this beauty and picked her up in person from the seller this past Saturday.Seeing the pics had me drooling for this watch! I have never owned a Titanium watch before and have never had a two tone either though a watch with both has always appealed to me. The seamaster is my fave in the Omega line and I have owned many over the years. The bond version has never appealed to me as much as the 300m version with those beautiful sword hands. Now I have a watch that sports 18k red gold and is light as a feather titanium and I can not describe how beautiful this combination is on my wrist. The glossy black dial fits so well with the Ti and gold. The red accents of the timers and the tip of the chrono hand is just the right colour accent. The blazing brightness of the lume c
After Set Diamonds
Hi All,Seeking some advice on a Patek. I have been offered this watch, which has apparently had diamonds set in the bezel, and a diamond set dial all provided by Patek themselves. There is apparently paperwork to cooborate this but I am yet to see it.Is this something that Patek would do?I have attatched some pictures, which I appreciate are not the best of quality.Kind regards,Luke
Patek at Tourneau
Well, yesterday was for AP, and today, found some time for Rolex and Patek. I have to say, my expectations for Torneau were quite low, based on my experience with the Atlanta location and comments from others here on TRF. Was very pleasantly surprised however, as the Patek specialist at Water Tower in Chicago was quite good. Knowledgeable and helpful, gave me her undivided attention. I was wearing my AP15300, and she noticed and commented on the Genta connection with the Nautilus and history. After spending a good amount of time with me trying on various models (which she unwrapped and removed stickers from), she sent me off with the just-arrived new catalog in hand!In the small world category, I learned while making conversation that the sales rep at the Rolex boutique and the Patek specialist at Torneau are sisters! Had a nice visit at Rolex, but they were adamant about not allowing wrist shots for security reasons, so no pics from there. Will post some Patek pics when I have a
