Historical F.P. Journe Tourbillon Marks 30 Years of Independent Watchmaking
Thirty years ago, 20-year-old French watchmaking prodigy Francois-Paul Journe completed his pet project: a pocketwatch with a handmade tourbillon, in an era in which that 19th-century horological invention was virtually forgotten. This year, Journe celebrates the anniversary with a wristwatch version of that groundbreaking timepiece, the F.P. Journe Anniversary Tourbillon. The new wristwatch, a re-interpretation of the original pocketwatch that Journe finished in 1983, breaks with the traditions of most current F.P. Journe watches by using the same materials used in that original pocketwatch silver with guilloch for the case, 4N rose gold for the front and back bezels, and traditional brass for the tourbillon movement. (Most of the watches from Journe’s eponymous brand use gold for the movements.)The watch has a transparent sapphire caseback revealing the classically constructed tourbillon movement, made in grained and gilded brass just like that of the 1983 pocketwatch. My Gift Giving Theory: Not What They Want, But What You Want Them To Have
The gift giving season is upon us, and at least for myself, the biggest issue is always, "what should I get ____?!" Of course, the commercialized nature of the season imbibes us with the notion that our paramount motivation for the next few monthsis ardently selecting those gifts that, "they will remember/will mean something to them/will make them think fondly of me forever." Often times this task requires far more dedication and thought than is possible for busy people such as ourselves.Let me first proclaim that the prospect of successful gift giving would be an almost non-issue if money were not a question. There is an almost infinite wealth of glorious gift ideas at our disposal if we could assert a large budget on the matter. Alas, we are woefully limited by the meager budgets we often set aside for such tangential luxuries as the giving of thoughtful gifts to others. So what are we do to? Even those loved ones whom which we know so well can present a quandary when it comes to sele

Battery died
I noticed over the weekend my emergency is in need of a battery replacement.. so my question is1 - do I ship it to breitling myself or bring it to a local AD and have them ship it ?2 - any idea how much this will cost ? I have heard prices between $400 - $12003 - any issues or tips if I am shipping it myself ? like how much should I insure it for ?4 - and if I do ship it in ? do they just change batteries or change gaskets and give it some kind of overhaul ?
Breitling Bentley GT... anyone own one of these beauties?
I have been on a search for a new Breitling piece (and my first that I will have ever owned) and have become focused on the Breitling Bentley GT. A little smaller than the other Bentley models but still an impressive 44 mm case. Uses a slightly modified version of the workhorse 13 claiber movemement the 13b. Breitling uses the actual custon paint used for a Bentley on the face of this watch. I have seen one recently and it is simply stunning to behold... blue being my fave.Any owners out there that can share some insight or pictures?
