Baselworld 2015: Bell & Ross BR-X1 Carbone Forg
One of Bell & Ross's top watches in 2014 was the BR-X1, a chronograph that played off the brand's popular classic, the BR-01. (The BR-X1 was also featured in the January 2015 issue of WatchTime.) At Baselworld 2015, Bell & Ross had another update to the model: the BR-X1 Carbone Forg, which shows off the chronograph in a striking new case design.True to its name, the new edition of the BR-X1 comes in a forged-carbon case. The case retains the signature shape of its ancestor, the BR-01. It is square at its base with a round dial. The case diameter is 45 mm. While the upper sections of the case are made of a single piece of carbon, forged in a steel mold using a patented process, the lower part of the case uses ceramic and rubber to create a durable bumper. The dial has a tinted sapphire crystal, so your eyes are immediately drawn to its clear indications: applied metal indexes with Super-LumiNova inserts at the hour markers the hour and minutes hands, also luminous, are skeletoni
Revisiting Le Brassus: Audemars Piguet Watches Mix Serious Horology With Iconic Designs
It has been about four years since I last toured the halls of Audemars Piguet. The historic Swiss watch maker still makes movements in the same building that Mr. Audemars and Mr. Piguet did in the 19th century C though the company has expanded its footprint a bit since that time. Even now in 2014, plans for yet another addition to the Audemars Piguet presence in the sleepy mountain town of Le Brassus are being implemented. In several years an updated museum (with an exciting design that was recently unveiled) will open in a new and exciting space showcasing the brand's true right to call themselves a high-end watch maker. Even most Audemars Piguet fans don't know much about the company's history until the 1970s, when the now iconic Royal Oak was first debuted. If they are smart, a focus of Audemars Piguet moving forward will be to both leverage their successful designs with their rich heritage, as one of the most innovative Swiss watch makers still in operation today. Not long after I l
I found oem quality spring bars for 44mm Chronomat dive straps
I found reasonably priced OEM Breitling 23mm x 1.8mm stainless steel spring bars to be used with the 44mm Chronomat series of watches with 22mm lugs. Any time you switch from a bracelet to a strap, it is advised to go up 1mm in spring bar size. So a 22mm lug should have a 23mm spring bar with a strap. This way any twisting of the strap will not cause the spring bar to fall out. If I use the OEM 22mm spring bars that are used for the pilot bracelet with the Pro 3 Dive strap, I can push on one side of the strap by the case and the spring bar will compress enough to POP OUT. A 23mm spring bar locks the rubber strap in solid and any amount of strap force wont push the spring bar out. That 1mm longer collar makes all the difference in strength and security. I dive with my watches and have been very particular with what spring bars I use with rubber dive straps on all my watches. Omega also goes up 1mm in their straps over the bracelet and have been doing this for years wi
Speedmaster Professional Resting Position Time Regulation
Hi guys,I played around with my speedy pro and tested its timekeeping precision based on resting position. For anyone looking to speed up or slow down your speedy, I figured this could be helpful. My testing methodology: The watch was fully wound and then timed against the Time.gov atomic clock at exactly 12:00 pm each day. The watch was then left to rest in the given position below, untouched, for exactly 24 hours until 12:00 pm the following day when I timed it against Time.gov again. This was done for three days in each position, with the watch being fully wound before each subsequent timing. It is important to note that the timing was exactly the same for all three positions on each of the three days (very accurate movement). Below are my results.Dial up: + 2 seconds Dian down: - 4.5 secondsCrown up: + 12 secondsCrown down: + 4 seconds Hopefully this is helpful for anyone trying to self regulate their speedy pro!!!
