Interview With Watch Maker Christophe Claret
Christophe Claret C who has been producing some of the most complex watch movements for 20 years, for both himself and others C has long absorbed influences and embraced the march of technology to produce some of the most elaborate and boundary-pushing movements around. His state-of-the-art atelier in Switzerland is so geared up to make the most of technological advances that as well as producing watches, it also manufactures innovative tools.Since beginning to produce watches under his own name, he has continued to push boundaries with creations that allow the owner to play baccarat and black jack, or that merge movements with their traditional enemy - magnets - to tell the time with floating ball-bearings.After all, in his own words: A creator must be receptive to all sorts of things, whether something in nature, or in all kinds of objects C machine tools, automotive, aerospace, science. And although he made his name in horology circles for his work with others, his own-name creation
Graham Chronofighter Oversize GMT Black Steel Watch
Let me share with you a few of the words that Graham uses to describe its newer Chronofighter Oversize GMT Black Steel watch collection. The name itself is long enough as it is. Let's see here, according to our friends at the British Masters this watch is "chic, gutsy, dogged, classy, undaunted, a milestone, magnetic, skilled, extra sensitive, faithful, and a backslider." Wow, that sounds like rock band made up of a KGB spy, an ex dictator turned psychologist, Alexander the Great, and a criminal who was formerly an arch bishop. I had to look up "backslider" by the way. No, it isn't a cool way of falling down the stairs. Apparently it is a religious term for a "saved" person who has fallen into sinned. Oh Graham, you dogged backslider you.Ignoring the thesaurus-derived spew we can focus on the watches themselves. The design is a bit of a hybrid between some of what Graham has offered in the past. Mainly its famous Chronofighter and GMT watches. When I first learned about Graham watches
Diver, Black Themes or BLNR? - Decision made, new addition has arrived !
Thank you for all who helped out with their opinions. And although I did post the result in the actual thread, I wanted to share a quick pic of the new addition to my small watch family. Again thanks for all the comments !
Changed my mind.
Okay so I was looking at a 111 the other day. The one I wanted had gone so I looked at alternatives.Found a great deal on a 590 from an AD. Agreed to give me the same deal I could source from a grey dealer so I'm happy about that. Should pick up in couple of days.Anyone else got the 590?
