Romain Jerome Rock The Rock DNA For Only Watch 2011
In honor of Monaco, the city that will host the Only Watch 2011 charity watch auction, participating brand Romain Jerome has come up with this special piece unique watch. The dial is a piece of rock based on the stone that Monaco was literally built on - they call it the "Rock the Rock DNA" watch.Based on the DNA style case, the watch has a black ceramic bezel and PVD black case. The dial has longitude and latitude indicators that likely mark the sport of the city (or where the stone was taken). The strap looks to be black alcantara leather. Overall this is actually a really cool looking timepieces. I love the black and tan color with red accents. Only one of these Rock the Rock DNA watches will be made and it will be auctioned off in September at Only Watch 2011.Rock the Rock DNA Tech Specs:Reference: Rock the Rock-DNA unique pieceCaliber: C22RJ51- Mechanical self-winding movementJewelling: 23 jewelsRate Frequency: 28,800 vphPower reserve: 42 hoursDial indication: Central hours and
A Look at the Lm-Tec Combat B19 Bronze
Usually, a variation on a watch we've already reviewed isn't enough to warrant another article, but in the case of the Lm-Tec Combat B19, we made an exception. Why? Well, we loved the Combat B16 and Super Combat B2 when we reviewed them a little over 2 years ago. They are big, brawny watches with military styling that are simply very appealing. They also achieve a surprising level of uniqueness between their dials and coin edged cases to stand out amongst other boutique sport watches. The B16 in particular left a bit of a hole in our hearts for a rugged PVD watch with simple, aggressive styling. If you haven't yet, give that review a read as it gets into details that will be omitted for redundancy below. When I became aware that Lm-Tec was making a new solid bronze version of the combat, I was immediately excited by the idea. The recent uptick in bronze watches, from the beastly Ancon Tank to the subtle Archimede Pilot and lots in between, has made me, and lots of you, fans of the mat
Wrist size vs watch size
Hi allI have long since been a strong advocate for choosing watches based on the size of your wrist; for instance, a 37mm Royal Oak on a 8.5 wrist is going to look odd, as would a 44 Offshore on a 6 wrist.I have 6.5 wrists so have typically avoided anything above 40mm; my collection until recently consisted of a Sea Dweller (40mm), a Daytona (39mm), a Royal Oak (37mm), and a Speedmaster Reduced (38mm).But then I fell in love with the Royal Oak Diver (a big 42mm). And I thought, what the heck!Personally, I think it is a little too big for me, but it is designed to be a big watch and to look big, and this is something that I hadn't really considered before. I tried on a 40mm Panerai and it looked wrong, because the design of Panerai lends itself to being big!So I've had a change of heart! It's ok to wear a larger watch as long as (a) the case/lugs don't overhang the wrist, (b) it is designed to wear big, and (c) it is worn with appropriate attire (i.e. I think the Diver can look good wit
