Whiplash Movie Editor Tom Cross Chooses Perfect Jaeger-LeCoultre Watch For Academy Awards
So, what watch does one wear to the Academy Awards as a first-time Oscar nominee? Admittedly, this was a new first-world problem for Tom Cross, who, as editor of the film Whiplash, recently received an Academy Award nomination for "Best Editing" - one of five Oscars Whiplash is up for this year. UPDATE: Tom Cross received the Academy Award (as well as Independent Spirit Award) for Film Editing for the movie Whiplash. This was a scenario Tom Cross did not anticipate when he started work on the labor-of-love indie drama. We were just happy to find out we got in to Sundance, explains? Cross of Whiplash's long, unexpected trajectory: first debuting at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, then becoming one of - if not the - most acclaimed films of the year.Shot in 19 days on a minuscule budget, Whiplash captures the psychological warfare between a young jazz drummer striving for virtuosity (Miles Teller) and his sadistic teacher/bandleader (J.K. Simmons) who punishes as much as pushes his dis
Found: An Example Of The Legendary Albino Rolex GMT-Master Reference 6542 (Live Pics, Thoughts)
After doing this job for over seven years now, attending every major auction, every major trade show and meeting many of the major collectors around the world, I think it's fair to say that it takes a lot to get me going these days. For example, in total honesty, there was one watch – one – that got me genuinely excited at Baselworld this year. None at SIHH. That's not to say there weren't many great introductions at both – there certainly were (and you can see them here and here), but I'm talking about watches that I found truly thrilling, on a personal level. Today, thanks to a visit from a friend from Japan, I can show you one that absolutely is, and while it has, in its day, raised a few eyebrows, it's a watch I would love to own. I am talking about a Rolex GMT-Master, the very first reference 6542 with the famous bakelite bezel, but one of only a small handful known with a white dial. Yup, let's go hands-on with the mythical albino GMT.

Sutter's Chicago: no longer "Rolex Authorized Service Center"
This would seem to be a pretty recent change, but I went today and saw a change of signage. Now says Rolex Watch Specialists. I called Rolex in New York, to enquire, and was told that they were still a great place to have a watch fixed, but that it was no longer affiliated with Rolex. I asked about whether Rolex would essentially pick up the service warranty, since there was no connection between Sutters and Rolex related to any future services, and it was implied they would (but with the strong caveat that they could not definitively tell me that without seeing the watch, and confirming that any issue was related to the previous service). So, anyone with issues related to a previous service should probably keep this in mind. I'm sending mine to Rolex for its current issue (even if I'm told that the current issue wouldn't be covered by the service warranty and I'll have to pay for it).
Grand Seiko hi beat peacock or wait for LV
Finally I have found an alternative green dial. I've not seen the peacock dial in the flesh but it looks nice in the pictures. Its a limited edition and I have the chance to buy it now, one read lots of good things about Grand Seiko but not own or held one before, anytime with any experience with GS?
