Idol Time: American Idol’s Randy Jackson Talks Timepieces with WT
It’s been a big week for “American Idol’s” Randy Jackson. Not only is “AI” fandom abuzz over his future as a judge on the popular musical competition program, but this week also saw the launch of a new business venture for the famously watch-loving Jackson Timepieces by Randy Jackson, a new line of watches (most of them affordably priced at $99 to $499) that will initially be sold on cable TV’s HSN Home Shopping Network. The watches will be produced by Clyde Dunier, Inc. a fourth-generation family-owned business known for its precious metals and gemstones, which has also branched out into watch manufacturing. On the eve of his watch brand’s official debut, Jackson spoke with WatchTime about his love of watches, his personal collection, and his hopes for the new brand. WT: You've been a watch collector a while. When did you first become interested in watches? RJ: Since I was about 12 or 13 years old. I've been fascinated with them pretty
Audemars Piguet & Theo Jansen's Strandbeests At Art Basel 2014
Theo Jansen conversing with patrons of the Strandbeest Audemars Piguet pavilion at Art Basel, 2014Audemars Piguet has been a sponsor of the famed Art Basel in Miami Beach, FL, for the past two years. The relationship is ongoing, and Audemars Piguet uses the event as a means to introduce new ambassadors as well as to announce its ongoing commitment in supporting select artists and causes. At this year's show, the focus was on Dutch artist Theo Jansen, whose Strandbeests are mechanical automatons resembling massive, though what would be rather miniature,?lifelike "beasts." Completely made of recycled PVC tubes, joints, and plastic bottles, these strange creations are powered by capturing and compressing air and using an ingenious logic model. By devising a so-called analogue NAND gate, the artist is able to create what are essentially logic circuits, so that the beasts can automatically decide when to stop (when one reaches the sea water) and continue when no water is detected and reserve
2003's Swatch James Bond 007 40th Anniversary Collection Of Watches
This is a slightly older collection (from 2003), and the reason I talk about it is because Swatch plays an important role in the new James Bond Movie: 007 Quantum of Solace. Further still, there will be a new collection of Swatch watches dedicated to the 007 villains, all to celebrate Bond's newest villain; Dr. Swatch. Stay tuned for more on that.Apparently, 007 has been in our lives for over 40 years, and in 2003 this collection there was one watch for each of the movies (that had come out at the time). After so many personalities, actors, villains, and ladies, we still enjoy watching the death-proof super spy on the screen. Of course the original James Bond watch was a Rolex, and then Omega stepped in to steal the limelight with a Seamaster on 007's wrist in each new flick. But lets not focus on that, Swatch (who owns Omega) thinks that other characters or aspects of the James Bond movies deserve a watch. More affordable ones at that. While there are a few new movies (most specificall
My first time
Hi everyone, after much thought and many trips to the AP store I finally decided on purchasing the Royal Oak 15450 with the white face! Since this is my first AP ever I am curious to what discount I can expect from an AD? I am in the Miami area if that makes a difference or if any of you guys could recommend a dealer.Thank you so much for the help, and I hopefully will be posting pictures soon!
Well done breitling
Just a quick note to other Breitling fans, been having ongoing issues with my navitimer 01 from new over a year ago. It was replaced after a couple of months of back and forth to Breitling uk, then new watch just stopped with the chrono running whilst being worn, and was fully wound, so back again but this time was sent to Switzerland and several weeks later returned fixed but with accompanying scratches. So back again several weeks again, but was polished to perfection and delivered by hand by manager of Breitling service uk, with some Breitling goodies. I was starting to lose faith in this great brand but I have to say Breitling really impressed and made all good in the end, watch is now perfect, but a little reluctant to use chrono! Now just going to finally enjoy. So have faith any issues Breitling will eventually make good, this was my experience anyway. Well done and thanks to nicky Reynolds and all Breitling team.
