Sock Drawer yields another AP Commoner
This is the first AP I bought. I read on line about an Arnold Schwarzenegger fundraiser auction held in New York to benefit inner city schools. Arnold contacted celebrities who picked their favorite AP model. AP customized each watch with an engraving of the celebrity's signature. I was thinking how cool it would have been to attend that event when I saw an on line ad for one of the watches. It was selected by the California singer Brian Wilson. I bought it. Then I got an email from Al Armstrong of Armstrong Rockwell asking to buy it from me. That's how I met Al. He was kind enough to send me CDs of Beach Boys albums to go with the watch!Jules Audemars chronograph that I like for its globular shape--sort of like a tiny gold pillow or pincushion. Surfs up!
When is Omega Releasing at Basel?
Does anyone know what date and time Omega is scheduled to unveil the new models? I can't wait!
My 5396G has stopped!
After getting back from a weekend trip I was looking forward to wearing my 5396G. After I finished advancing the time to get caught up, I pushed in the crown so I could wind it. It got stuck in a strange halfway position before getting pushed in and the hands jumped when it did. The watch no longer functions and now makes a strange noise when winding. I purchased it new in December of 2014 from an AD who I am seeing on Friday. Wish me luck!
Anyone know what is this?
I was just browsing the net and came across this beauty.. It is sold few months ago at USD477K!! This is one of the coolest panerai I ever seen! Anyhow, I am wondering what's the story with the bezel cap or insert or whatever it is called (pic above not mine) but it makes the watch look so cool!! Only if it can clip onto my 372!! Thanks for your kind feedbacks and sharing your knowledge! Cheers! jenReference to .watchcollectinglifestyle....tion-in-geneva
Date change/sign of service need?
Hello everybody,Long time lurker in need of a little perspective. This subject has been posted here ad nauseam (I read most of the threads before posting this) but I didn’t quite find an answer to this:I recently purchased a GMT Master II 16710 from 1991 from a very reputable dealer on the west coast. Watch runs perfectly, very stable, not slow nor fast. I’m currently in Europe and because of the time difference I happened to be awake to hear the date change a few nights ago. When I looked, it wasn’t midnight but 12:14 and it’s been consistent every single night at the same time. Since it’s consistent and the watch is running fine, I’m assuming that the watchmaker who last serviced it, wasn’t careful enough to set the minute hand properly. My question is: despite the watch running well, could this lateness in the date change (consistent and all) be an indication of deteriorating lubrication? The dealer has offered to have his watchmaker adjust
