2011 Digital IQ Index Finds Luxury Watch Brands Lagging
L2 bills itself as a think tank for digital innovation, and each year the group releases the Digital IQ Index which ranks the digital competence of 35 leading luxury watch and jewelry brands. The newest rankings are out, and to the surprise of few, watch brands do not fare well. Find out who is gifted and who is feeble inside. L2's scores are based on brand performance in four areas of digital competence: effectiveness of the brand's website (35%), digital marketing (25%), social media (25%) and mobile (15%). Within each of these categories, L2 ranks brand efforts in several areas. For example, the “Website” category includes factors such as site technology, social media integration, product display and content, and innovation and interactivity. When the scores are tallied, the brands fall into one of five groups, based on their overall Digital IQ:140+? Review: The Riedenschild Swihanic 2
Swihanic, the under-priced mystery watch, oh how you bewilder. I have been wearing the Riedenschild for few weeks now and it has definitely left an impression. It feels like an expensive watch, it looks like an expensive watch and for the most part, seems to be built like an expensive watch but expensive is the one thing the Swihanic is not. OK, let me qualify that last statement. The Swihanic (still don't know what that means) has many features that just don't belong, as I understand the watch market, on a watch this price, being about $275.? The watch features a sapphire crystal, a well-made deployment-clasp strap (optional), branded crowns and strap details, a decorated Unitas movement, an internal bezel and a unique case design. Sure, "built like an expensive watch" is a terrible generalization, since I am sure it is not built anything like a $5000+ dollar watch, or a $1500 dollar watch for that matter, but it is better than expected, and would beat the crap out of many brands in
Strapped
About 6 weeks ago, my beloved Omega X-33 NASA kevlar strap broke. It lived a good life, providing me with several years of faithful service. That meant I had to use the Speedy on a 6 years old 40 dollar strap that was carefully shaped to look like alligator. It was okay, but it too was showing the age and for something at that price point I just could not ask for any more years of service out of it.Long story short, I stopped by Bachendorf's on my way home and I bought a Hadley Roma Select Crocodile strap, 20/18 with white stitching. It was quite pricey but they made me a good deal on it so I got it around 40% off. It did not look much different from the cheap one I had for half a decade but once on the watch, it made all the difference and I think it looks great! One dilemma remains:Should I use it with the deployant that I stuck on it as soon as I got home and extend the life or should I use it with the OEM Omega buckle that I bought for the kevlar strap?
How long would you wait?
Members,My AD told me they may (no guarantee) be able to get me an application piece I applied for almost a year ago. They asked for a deposit equal to the full price of the piece. I wired them the money a month ago. I just spoke to them the other day and they have no update from Patek. I'm wondering if they are just wasting my time? Thoughts? How long would you be willing to wait after making a full deposit?
