1783 France - Louis Abraham Breguet is contacted for the commission of the world's most elegant and complicated timepiece to be handed to Queen Marie-Antoinette. A task commissioned by Count Axel de Ferson, an officer in the Queen's high guard, and a suitor to the queen. Price and time meant nothing, "make the most spectacular watch the world has ever seen;" the noted queen's affection for jewelry and rare items was to be outstanded. At least that was the idea. In 1793, ten years after work had begun on the Marie Antoinette Breguet pocket watch, the French Revolution took its grasp on French royalty, and Queen Marie Antoinette was beheaded at the guillotine for treason.Work, however, did not cease on the watch. A good Buy?
So i went to my local Watch shop and was offered the attached watch at $4300 (+Tax, 8.25, its TX).Is this a good buy? Omega Speedmaster Pulse Rate Bezel
Hey Guys:I sourced this really cool vintage bezel for my 1969 Speedy.It is graduated to calculate pulse rates by counting 15 heartbeats against the stopwatch feature.Before installing it (similar to a Rolex bezel/insert) I needed to figure out how to align the bezel in relation to the dial (and removed the original tachymetre unit).A quick spreadsheet showed that the 45 BPM on the bezel needed to be directly across from the 20 seconds on the dial.A piece of scotch tape held it in place and the case-back press put it into the right position!Those Omega guys sure knew their stuff back in the good old days; now where is the dog so I can do his pulse!!
