A. Lange & Sohne Lange 1 Tourbillon Limited Edition Watch Available On James List
Here is a rare watch from favorite German luxury watch maker A. Lange & Sohne. If you can take yourself back to the bubble building times of the year 2000, you'll recall just how sexy the idea of a tourbillon watch was. This was before a "mere tourbillon" was not enough, and when the complication was gaining steam as the haute mechanical wonder to wear. At this time most consumers still had no idea what the odd, but cool looking complication was. Later most consumers finally learned that the complication was in fact cool to look at, but of questionable value from utilitarian perspective. But who cares really, you don't get a $100,000 watch for utilitarian purposes.2000 to 2003 saw the production of this mini-era defining watch. It took the Lange 1 watch design that really brought A. Lange & Sohne into the modern era and put a tourbillon in it. The area on the dial normally reserved for the subsidiary seconds dial, was now used for a partially open dial showing the tourbillon an
Pairs Well With: Helson Gauge
The Helson Gauge is a beautiful watch with a distinct look and serious dive capabilities, but as Helson says on their website, it may not be "everybody's cup of tea". ?Modeled after a vintage depth gauge, the Gauge itself is a robust 47 mm in diameter and 22 mm tall, making it one of the larger watches on the market.? But all this size is for a good reason, as it adds to the desired aesthetic of a vintage dive instrument.? The case of the Gauge is titanium with a bronze bezel, and the watch features a vintage domed sapphire crystal.? Inside the case is a 25 Jewel ETA 2824-2 automatic movement.? The watch also features an astounding 3500 M water resistance.? We're huge fans of Helson here at worn&wound and the Gauge is no exception.? Given its size, we thought it may make for an interesting and fun centerpiece for a Pairs Well With.? Included are several items that complement the vintage nautical aesthetic of the Gauge, and some that help the watch shine in a more contemporary?wardr
AP ROC Alinghi City Of Sails, Advice/Info required
Morning AP owners,I am a new member and hopefully an AP owner very soon.I am thinking of purchasing an AP City Of Sails Chronograph in Steel, and I just wanted some information and advice. 1. Why was the rrp so high at the time ($50k), is there any manufacturing process or details apart from the dial that justifies the rrp. The movt is standard and not even in-house.2. Depreciation seems awfully high, I am buying a mint 2003 with box and papers for $11.5k. Is this a model that is not popular because no one wants a 39mm watch as it seems like every manufacturer is making watches above 41mm.3. If you had a choice would you buy a 41mm ROC or 42mm ROO over a ltd edition 39mm.Thanks in advance, and have a good day all.
AP ROO Panda + Lambo
After seeing some recent threads, I've really missed wearing my AP and driving my car...Decided to go and take some quick iPhone shots of the combo...can't wait for the weekend to take them both out for real!
Pam 24 Submersible ready to Dive!
I used the weekend to grab a few pics of my new Panerai 24 Submersible. This is so much more wearable than my Pam 104. The brushed bezel screams wear me, which I did not do much with my other Pam. This one will be in my normal rotation and not reserved for special occasions. I think I'll go diving... in my back yard to the great depths of 6 feet!
