Jaquet Droz The Bird Repeater Watch + Video
I sat here pondering possible "bird" puns and idioms that might apply to an opening statement for discussing this extremely high-end and limited minute repeater automaton - and they all just felt really silly. No jokes need apply because this is a rather cool and serious timepiece by Jaquet Droz that allows you to use your imagination in making up your own nicknames for the Swiss brand's new "The Bird Repeater" timepiece.A couple of days ago we shared with you a?sneak, first-look at The Bird Repeater here. Finally ready for debut, the watch has been the subject of several years of development and a dream for the brand which painstakingly searches for novel ways to connect the modern Jaquet Droz with that of the past. The result is a limited edition of just 16 watches that Jaquet Droz coins as being a "true automaton" with technology dating back to the "age of enlightenment."[youtube youtubewatches-dealer/watch?v=TV-SZQcS23Q&version=3&hl=en_US]Inside The Bird Repeater watch is
Visited European Watch Co in Boston v.Pics
Stopped by the very friendly and knowledgeable European Watch Co on Newbury St in Boston. I stopped in as they had a 5164 and 5167 in stock (pre-owned, they are not an AD) and I wanted to compare them side by side. I also wanted to compare the 5726 dial to the Aquanaut dial. The hold up with the Aquanaut is the bezel looks a little dinged up (you can see the marks in the close up pic, they are right by the 1oclock mark on outer bezel and also in between the 12-1 mark middle bezel. I came to realize three things:1. I am glad my 5167 purchase fell through as the 5164 is perfection.2. I am glad I went with 5712 over 5726 as the 5726 dial in person is identical color to the 5164 so the blue dial 5712 is a perfect mate for the 5164.3. The Nautilus looks much better on a leather strap than I had originally thought.I also tried on a watch that is on my grail list, A Lange Platinum Datograph Man that Platinum is heavy and the movement is mesmerizing. I work with Josh at European Watch Co but e
Brushed stainless bracelet on titanium watch?
I have a 057 all titanium and want to add an aftermarket brushed stainless bracelet ($70 so hard to go wrong...). Will brushed stainless match up with titanium? Thanks!
Polish or not to polish
Guys,I'm getting a bit obsessed with this whole polish or not to polish hype. I never really payed attention to it but since my Sub is almost 10yo, it's getting time for its first service. I see a lot of watch cases with these typical round chamfers. Needless to say this mostly concerns watches from the 80's, 90's and early 00's.Now most likely, these have had more than 1 service and material had been removed multiple times. But what I also noticed is that a lot of 90's and 00's Subs received somewhat odd looking brushed chamfers. To illustrate, here is an example of a 2010 Random Serial 16610. This watch is still very young and yet, to my eyes, ruined at first service.(This is not my watch)Let's look closer. The edges are rounded. It's not severe, but knowing this watch is only from 2010 and had only 1 service..... I start to worry. What's more. The brushed chamfers are reflecting the light in an odd looking way compared to how it's supposed to be originally. click. The distinct crosse
The new LV? - 16710 is picking up steam pretty fast
I didn't see that coming that fast. Now that 16610LV and the modern 116610LV are getting thinned out - the 16710 is now picking up speed in price significantly and quite fast the last days. Look at these prices: https://.watchrecon/?query=16710
