Best his and her pairs
Hi All,I've got an anniversary coming up and am thinking about getting a pair of his and her watches to celebrate this milestone. To compliment my own collection, I am looking at a rectangular watch. At the moment, I am considering two brands, Patek and JLC. I am thinking about perhaps the Patek 5124g for me and the Patek twenty 4 for her or a pair of Jaeger-LeCoultre Reversos. For example, a Reverso One Duetto for her and a Reverso Tribute Duo for me, or the Tribute to 1931 for me and the Reverso One Rdition for her. Alternatively, I could just get her a Vacheron Constantin Patrimony to pair with the one that I already have and get something different altogether for myself. What are your thoughts on these options?I'd also love to see pics of any other members who have paired with the wife.
consolidating collection vintage rolex to PP
Did any of you guys move completely from rolex to Patek?I made the decision to go for 5070g several weeks ago and have a few people searching for a good example at a reasonable price for me. Although not imperative, i have been thinking about letting go some of my other watches that get less wrist time. Gilt 4 line 5512 that i baby too much and a few others. I have a well worn Maxi 5513 as a daily that goes everywhere with me and actually i get more satisfaction from.Did any of you end up moving from vintage ( or modern) rolex or other brands to solely Patek?
I'm done with Panerai
FinallyMy collection is complete (for now lol)After a few years into watches, I've noticed how much i have changed.Started with Rolex, then very quickly spread into other brands, omega, iwc, brietling, sinn, grand seiko..All your usual suspects. At one point it all just seem too much. I started to wonder if I am collecting just for the sake of collecting, and not buying what my heart truly desires. Having to switch between 10+ watches, winding / setting them (especially the more complicated pieces)-believe me it's a chore and definitely add more stress to daily life lol.So consolidate into 3-4 pieces then!!! like most people I looked into the big 3. VC was never my cup of tea, so it's out. Tried Patek aquanaut- yes a classic but just does not make a statement enough. It actually feel tinny when I handled it. Gorgeous movement nevertheless. Tried calatrava, nice but it's too dressy for a person who only wears shirt and suit once a year.So ended up with a 42mm white AP diver. Gee the watc
Splotches/Marks on inner rim of steel under crystal
Hi Everyone,I recently purchased a GMT Master II from a reputable dealer I've done business with in the past - full kit - boxes, papers, great condition - really an excellent example of the 16710 pepsi bezel. It's an A serial and was purchased in 2000.One thing I noticed on a closer insepction upon receiving the watch, were some faint splotchy marks on the steel rim of the case, under the crystal, around the dial...almost looks like something has dried on that rim (though zero marks on the dial itself, which is it's normal shiny self). I'm attaching a photo which makes it seem much worse than it actually is, as I took it to highlight the issue. I was originally concerned about this, but then I took a look at a mid 90s Sub that a friend of mine had, and he also had some light splotching around the 1 o'clock mark...not as much as mine but still had some. Does anyone have any insight into this? What could be the cause for this? The dealer I purchased from said they would be happy to
