On The Block: Three Modern (But Out Of Production) Watches To Consider From Next Week's Antiquorum New York Sale
I am often asked if there are any watches being made today that I would deem collectible in the long run. While the every day answer would be, “no, at least not in the same way that vintage watches are collectible” there are some exceptions. We are in something of a renaissance of watchmaking, with new materials abound, millions of dollars in R&D budgets, amazing technology, and more appetite for mechanical timepieces than ever before. So there are bound to be some watches that we'll look back at and say, "Yup, that was special."Here are three modern watches, all made within the last four years, that I genuinely believe have a chance at being collectible down the road, all for sale in Antiquorum’s sale next week. New guy interested in Panerai
I've absolutely fallen in love with the look of these watches and the price. Very afforable, and gorgeous. I'm thinking about getting a GMT complication.. Could you guys tell me about these watches and help me pull the trigger? I've only dealt with Rolex so far but I'm ready to move on. Do they appreciate in value and don't depreciate? How's the movements, what complications would you suggest? Sorry for being a noob
Seadweller service and Michael Young
I took my seadweller (16600) to the RSC a couple of years to have the bezel insert changed. I was working local so left it with them to which they also changed the bar springs and cleaned the bracelet for free. I picked it up and paid and they had noted on the invoice that the bracelet should be replaced due to the stretch. I said I would think about it and ended up last year having Micheal Young repair it. The bracelet repair was brilliant, but I need to take it back to the RSC and get the watch service. Do you think as it recorded with them they will kick up about the repair or not notice. The cost of a new bracelet was about 1700.
