Horage Autark Review
A few months ago, I wrote an article about a Swiss brand that had quietly developed their own, fully independent (nothing from ETA, Swatch, etc) serially produceable automatic movement over the course of 7 years. At first, I didn't really believe what I saw, but after reading up and speaking to one of the owners of the brand, I was amazed. They were really doing something extraordinary, though not many people, at least in the US-blogosphere, were talking about them. The brand was Horage, and their goal was to kickstart a line of watches that used their in-house movement the K1. Well, technically the movement is made by Accurat Swiss, but it's all under one umbrella. They succeeded, which will help get this movement out there. But, this wasn't the only watch Horage had made. In fact, they had an existing line of watches already for sale, manufactured by them. Some of these watches used sourced movements, but one featured their K1, the Autark, which is German for independent. On top of be
What does PVD do to the case/bezel?
I noticed a few AP's that have black PVD coating - some being aftermarket. Does AP do any PVD from factory? Is it more protective or more scratch prone?Does aftermarket PVD decrease desirability or value of the watch?Sent from my 16M
Houston We Have a BIG Problem!!
So i'm sure many of you remember last week I had purchased an AP Legacy and posted several pictures of it. Well, over the weekend I was only wearing it around the house and because of it's HUGE 48mm size, the ceramic octagonal crown was digging into my wrist and hurt because of the sharp point. I could'nt screw down the crown anymore to change the angle and if I tried to unscrewed it a bit to change the angle of the crown and to make it not be so uncomfortable, i feared water would get in it and didn't want to take such a big risk with such a $$ watch. Another negative about the watch is, the bullet proof strap was starting to frey a bit, and i could only imagine what it would look like after a couple of months... also, the strap isn't waterproof because of the leather underside of the strap, so I could never swim with it or shower or anything.. it would be just a once in a while watch which I already own in my collection.. I really loved it so much, but these were things that hit me w
My new 2010 Limited Edition Cosmonaute
I've purchased #39 of only 250 steel/gold 2010 Cosmonautes made. It is now my new favourite watch. Like it? (shot with my Blackberry).
449 hand color question
I'm looking at Radiomir 449 SE's and see some with the blue hands and others with gold (?) - not blue anyway. Is the difference model years or what? - seems I knew this at one time but can't recall. Thanks for your help!
