Recommended Use: Understanding The Durability Of Your Mechanical Watch And When To Take It Off
Luxury watch durability is an important issue to both consumers and retailers. People who spend money on expensive watches have a certain expectation of strength and durability, and those expectations aren't always met. We are talking about the type of activity a timepiece is designed for and when it is likely to break. In short, there is an educational and informational problem in the watch industry surrounding the issue of explaining to customers when wearing their new high-end watch is a good or bad idea.I recall a few months ago leading a seminar about watches to a group of retailers. A few jewelry and watch retailers began to complain that watch brands don't do enough to tell customers what is and is not appropriate when it comes to how to wear their watches. It seemed that people would go rock climbing with their new Patek Philippe or Swimming with their new Chopard dress watch. The consumers would then angrily return to the store complaining that their new "incredibly expensive
Crowdfunding Follow-Up
Over the past few months we here at worn&wound have featured a number of watch brand hopefuls who were using some form of crowdfunding in an effort to get themselves off the ground. This format for funding a project has exploded in the past couple of years and it is a great fit for watches projects. They target the audience that wants the product and if there is enough response, it gets made. Hopefully. Time to look back and see how the projects we have featured here have faired.Rossling & Co. – KickstarterThe idea behind Rossling & Co. was that of a simple, slim dress watch with an affordable price and a versatile design. The project was looking for a reasonable pledge range from $119 to $139 which would provide the contributor with one watch and strap. The company’s funding goal was $19,200 and they were able to successfully blow that number out of the water with an ending total of $170,002 from 1,280 backers. Definitely a job well done. Just Curious
Hello All,I'm curious to find out which dial most people prefer and why on the AP ROC 26300. I'm considering this chrono but they are hard to come by. My preference is the white first and than the blue dial second. Please post your pics if you have one. Unfortunately I've never had the luxury of seeing one in person. Also, don't forget to vote. Thanks in advance.
Rubber strap and buckle question
Hi everyone,I just changed to a rubber strap on my Pam. One I had a hard time removing the screw from the buckle from my leather strap where I was getting the buckle from...just wouldn't pull out after I turned the screw a few times. Is this normal? Also is the buckle screw supposed to have a tube like the screws that go through the case?
Submariner website / blog help
Good morning gents,I'm just looking for some help, while looking online one day I found a website or blog I can't remember which but it was written by one man and dedicated to the Rolex submariner. The website/ blog seemed to be written by a fan at least that's the impression I got from reading it. He went into extreme detail about every aspect of the watch from the history to the construction it and also contained very detailed diagrams that I have never seen online before such as how the pearl is constructed etc. I have been searching for months trying to find this gold mine of information with no luck at all so I thought perhaps some of the forum members might be able to help? Many thanks,Hunter
