Good or Bad Experiences with second hand Panerai Dealers
Hi all. After years of ignoring Panerai, something in me clicked and now they're all I can think about. I've spent some time at AD's, and at a Panerai boutique so I'm getting to know the brand a little bit. The newer pams are super nice and there are a few that I'd buy under $7,000. I'm looking at older pams too though, online, and the prices are nice. A lot of choices under $6,000. (Honestly I'd love to sell a Sub 116610ln and get a Luminor and a Radiomir!)Anyway, I'm considering going the second hand route for this and am hoping someone here can tell me about a good experience they've had buying Panerai on the second hand market. Who's trustworthy? Chrono24, Crown and Caliber, Watchbox, David SW, Watchmaxx? I've been combing all the pages. The Chrono24 I suppose would depend on the seller... Thanks for your help!
Oil or water under crystal?
Howdy all! I got my first Rolex - Sub Date - from my wife as a wedding present. Absolutely love it and I wear it anytime I'm not sleeping! On our honeymoon, in the plenty of light that is French Polynesia, I noticed some markings on/under the crystal. I filled the sink with soapy water, took my toothbrush, and scrubbed away. Wouldn't come off. So, it would seem they're under the crystal. To my eyes, and it's admittedly a bit hard to tell in the attached picture, they look to be a light brown color which leads me to wonder if they're lubricant reside spots. I've kept the crown screwed down the entire time I've had it so it's not water damage. What do y'all think? I'll be taking it in to the dealer this coming weekend to potentially send back to Rolex.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro
Would you buy a new model Oysterquartz?
I've got an exciting incoming soon, after almost 10 years of toying with the idea of getting one but never quite being at the right place at the right time a ref 17000 is on the way. This got me thinking, given that Rolex did in fact develop two new Cal. to replace the date and day date OQ models in the early 00s but never went into full production, I imagine it would be relatively straightforward to release a new model. If that were the case, would you buy one and if so, what features would you hope for and at what price point?
Rolex Insurance JM/SF experience
I recently had the opportunity to purchase my first Rolex, a DJ II 41. I love it and have been wondering why I didn't do it sooner, nonetheless I've read many threads and discussions regarding ins. I thought it resourceful to do so myself so I checked with Jewelers Mutual as well as State Farm. SF has a personal articles policy that is totally separate from homeowners. I provided a receipt as documentation. Approx 6500 value. The difference between the two was quite a learning experience. I chose zero deductible with JM. After submitting my application etc: JM sent an email stating they would insure but only w a 500 deductible. I called and also leaned that it's replacement only and in some instances I would be responsible for taxes and any other charges, whatever that means. They also advised that I would have to submit documentation in the event the value went up and the watch became more valuable or more costly to replace. I also apparently asked a silly question about upgrading i
