Swatch Group Sales Beat Industry Averages
Swatch Group AG's half-year 2009 financial report sent the company's shares higher on the strength of sales that outperformed industry averages and an indication that signs of recovery are at hand. For the first half of 2009, gross sales for the watch segment fell 16.4% to CHF 1,960 million, compared with export figures for the same period falling 26.4% by value. Swatch Group shares jumped 13% on the news. Swatch Group attributed its results to its presence in all price segments, its distribution network, and a favorable geographic mix. The Group said that unlike 2008, currency volatility did not have any substantial impact on sales.Swatch Group's Watch and Jewelry segment realized an operating margin of 15.4% of net sales, compared with 18.8% in the first half of 2008. According to Bloomberg, this performance beat analyst estimates. The Group predicts that sales for the second half of 2009 will equal those for the same period in 2008. Swatch Group gets a significant portion of sales
Advice needed with Omega PO
Over the last several months I've acquired several timepieces with the most recent being an Omega PO (orange number dial and rubber strap with orange stitching). My dilemma is I've fallen out of love with it. I admire the quality of construction and the co-axial movement and from a objective point of view the time piece is hard to fault. But it just doesn't stirr my emotions. My AD has a pre-loved Cartier Santos 100 XL (non chrono) for sale and I really like it. There are a lot of knowledgeable members on this site which makes it even more interesting. JJ has over 49k posts !!! with a few other members not far behind. Heck, I even bought a new camera to take a few awesome pics of my time pieces and to no avail I can't seem to get my pics to appear like the guys here. Macro functions I am still toying with. I'll get there !!! Again, I w

New 372 Friday - Hallelujah!
Today was a great day my friends and I just wanted to share a few pics with you fellas. After weeks of debating back and forth between the classic luminor style 372 and the newly released radiomir style 587 I finally decided crownguard for the win and took delivery of this beauty below. This one is so versatile that it really can dress up/down to a serious extent. The strap is fresh from leather master and great friend Greg Stevens himself in case anybody was wondering - thanks for looking fellas!
