Crazy experience I had with an AP owner at airport
I just had to share this. So I am waiting in line ready to board a flight with my wife and kids. The guy in front of me is wearing a really shiny silver 44mm ROO. So I wait to asking in as it has a blue rubber strap if that is the SS navy. His eyes light up and says no, but I have one at home as well. So I comment as I noticed how shiny and bright it looks. He looks at my wrist and sees I am wearing my DSSD, he then asks me if I want to try it on. Sure, he takes it off and I hand him my Rolex. I am holding it and comment how heavy it is for a stainless steel, and mention I have had SS AP before and it didn't feel like that. He says no, it's not SS, I then looked up at him and I said, holy crap, this is the platinum. What a really cool and nice guy, he says rarely anyone notices the watch and he was super excited to meet someone who loved watches. Crazy nice things happen in WIS land. Incoming...or so I thought?!
FedEx knocked at my door this morning and delivered a box that a jeweler's box from AP generally gets delivered in.instant...i thought did I do a deal drunk on TRF yesterday? ...then thought no...did I get my repair back from clearwater after only a week?.... and that was a definite no...so I couldn't figure it out, but I didn't want to open it quite yet. but then I did. and look what arrived! given that I've already sent two watches to Clearwater (one for repair, one for 3rd year warranty validation) and they never once sent either back in a box, Betsy promised me that she would send me one once they came back in stock.well, they kept to their word, and without warning one arrived! Looking forward to taking it with me on my next trip so that I don't need to leave my watch resting on a hotel nightstand!
Got my dream Breitling this week!
I have wanted the Breitling Blackbird ever since I first got into watches. I finally found the deal I have been looking for, and better yet, it was a black-eye blue-dial version with blue croco deployment strap! I love the pilot bracelet so now I can swap my 355A from my Headwind with the croco strap when I want as well.
Happy Birthday Gondolo..!
Treated my Gondolo Calendario to a little present to celebrate its 7th birthday. The watch came fitted with the 18ct Patek pin-buckle as standard, which I have always felt was penny-pinching by PP. I quickly fitted the strap with a Hirsch gold-plated deployant buckle and wore it that way for seven years. On my last trip to London, I picked up a new 18ct yellow gold Patek Philippe deployant buckle to complete my watch. Wasn't cheap, but hey, good old Mastercard, and I think it was worth it!Before, with the Hirsch buckle fitted...and now...Now back on my wrist!MW
I really like my 111
I really think this is a great every day watch, at first I didn't like the seconds hand but I warmed up to it.
