A Very Special ROO LE
No, it's NOT the ROO LBJ If you have read my earlier thread about my visit to APSC Singapore, you may recall I've mentioned that AP was going to launch a very special ROO LE.It was finally launched in September 2013 during the Singapore F1 season. There was no big bang announcement like the LBJ, but AP had chosen to launch this very limited LE, 20 pieces to be exact, while hosting their new owners who were specially picked by AP at a posh suite located at the GP paddock during an adrenaline-pumped F1 race evening. Looks familiar? Isn't it the ROO ref. 25721ST? Yes! On the dial side, it is a re-launched of the very first ROO design way back in 1993. Ref.25721ST is the mother of all ROO and really deserves a special treatment to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Offshore line. And so the birth of this very exclusive LE. AP has updated the original JLC-based movement with the in-house 3120 base movement. The LE comes with a sapphire crystal case back which exposes the exquisite move

AP ROC power reserve too low
Hi guys,I'm new here and contemplating buying my first AP and have a question to ask of the experts.I was looking around for an AP ROC 41mm and pretty much zeroed in on this watch. However when looking up the specs on the website I found it has a reserve of only 40 hours. I was quite surprised as I feel this is really low. If alternating this watch over the week I may have to keep winding it every 2nd day. Isn't this too less when most watches in this league boast a much higher reserve. also keeping the chrono on will obviously further reduce the reserve.This has really put me off but I would like your thoughts please.Maybe the Other option to consider is the Offshore then?thanks in advance

A Time Capsule - Omega Speedmaster - The Story of the First Watch in Outer Space
Well, my watch collecting began many many years ago, around 1994 when I bought my first 'nice' watch, a TT Sub with blue dial. I kept that as my only watch for several years until IWC's caught my eye. Got myself a Flieger 3706, a 3713 Doppelchronograph, and an Aquatimer 3536. Anyways, I spent a lot of time at AD's, just browsing, and collecting all manner of freebie brochures etc that they were only too willing to hand out. I then sold all those watches so that I could buy a house. Many many years later, in 2012 in fact, I re-started my watch collection again, and having acquired 5 lovely Rolex's, am now ready to explore some other brands. I have an AP RO on my wishlist, but also an Omega Moonwatch. I've always wanted one of them, either the 3570.50 manual wind Hesalite, or a 3572.50 or 3573.50 with a see thru case back.Anyways, as I was thinking about Moonwatches this afternoon, I suddenly remembered something an AD gave me for free many many years ago. New watch as gift - warranty card not in your name = issue?
Short version. I have the opportunity to buy a new SD43 from an AD. They are saving it for VIPs only. One of my friends is a VIP at that AD. The AD is insisting that he purchase the watch with his credit card and gift it to me. In turn, they are also insisting that the warranty card be written up in his name.Something about having a new high end watch with papers in someone else's name is grating on my nerves. Am I being too picky here?
