Hands-on with the Kent Wang Art Deco
Before getting into Kent Wang's new Art Deco watch, one first needs to know two thingsobviously, who and what is Kent Wang, and what is the Art Deco period. Kent Wang is a brand named after its founder. KW got its start in 2007 when Mr. Wang, frustrated by the lack of well-priced pocket squares, decided to take matters into his owns handsor pockets as it were. From there, a brand of refined and classic men's clothing and accessories emerged. From ties to bespoke suits to a couple of watches, Kent Wang is nice alternative to mainstream stores for higher-end dress wear needs.Art Deco is a visual style that followed WWI and lasted through the 40's (roughly until WWII). It's a bold style that combined elements from the Craft period and Machine age. Ranging through all media from objects to graphics, and notably to architecture, Art Deco is defined by bold geometry with an eye for symmetry and flow, a use of strong colors and highly detailed decoration. There are many existing examples of
What do you guys think about the Panda.
I really like the look, but don't you think unlike a Rolex that is quite a bit more noticeable? And isn't the Chrono a seperate module?Doesn't this require higher service charges and more time in the shop?
First "Real" Watch: Speedmaster or Datejust
Thought this would be a great place to get some advice - saving up for my first real watch and I'm going back and forth between a Rolex DateJust and Omega Speedmaster. Here's the two I'm comparing:Ladies' Omega Speedmaster, Automatic Chronometer, Diamonds on the bezel, with the white mother of pearl dial Datejust with white gold fluted bezel, oyster dial with diamond markers, jubilee bandI have always wanted a Rolex...but I love the sportier look of the Omega...This will be a Christmas gift to myself if the finances work out in time, but interested in some pros / cons from this informed board - thanks in advance.
Satisfied with the novelties?
Wanted to know what you thought about this year's novelties?Went to see what Rolex did and was very disappointed, apart an interesting but not for me Yacht Master, and a new movement nothing good there.Of course the pilot watch is quite special and hard to believe that it's Patek who really made such a watch, the blue dial seems very nice in real life pics, but it was, IMO, stupid to make it in WG, for me such a watch needs to be SS. In any case I'm sure that in real it's a beautiful pilot watch, for those who like, not my case, but at probably around 50K because of the WG…Love the 5270, I prefer it to the 5970 personally, I think it's much more modern looking, though the 5970 is a beast also, so the new model without the chin is very cool, love that blue dial, I'm really a sucker for blue dials...I really like the 5905 in blue dial, for a chrono with AC it's a beauty, wonder how much it costs, I guess with the platinum around 80K, but as much as I wouldn't buy a chrono only watc
Tudor Black Bay Blue or GMT
The reason for this post is a little confusing to me. I've never been a fan of the Tudors snowflake hands and large crown. I've even said it here a couple of times that it's a deal breaker for me. With that said I had some free time yesterday morning so I thought I'd do a bit of window shopping. I popped into a Tudor AD and the Black Bay Blue really caught my eye, wow what a beautiful piece, the snowflake hand isn't anywhere near as overpowering as it looks in pictures and I hardly notice the crown when on the wrist. Pictures really don't do this watch justice. If only I could make my mind up I'd be sitting here now with it on my wrist.I know we we get a lot of these post's, I'm guilty of opening them myself before but thought I'd ask the community for opinions. So for the options, Tudor Black Bay Blue Aged Leather StrapI don't like how the leather strap sits very low on the watch. I want to wear the watch on a black and blue RubberB band. The leather strap comes with the deployment c
