Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin
Piaget is the undisputed master of ultra-thin. The brand holds several world records for thinnest movements, both simple and complicated. At SIHH, the list of records grew by two with the introduction of the Piaget Altiplano Skeleton Ultra-Thin. Learn more about the new records, and find wallpaper and pricing information inside.Designing and constructing ultra-thin movements is part art and part science. The science and engineering side requires deep understanding of materials and movement architecture. The movement designers and engineers must not sacrifice rigidity to achieve a thin profile.Yet even the best theories provide only a starting point. In the real world, nothing beats experience, and Piaget is among the most experienced manufacturers in the ultra-thin realm. In 2010 the brand celebrated the 50th anniversary of the groundbreaking caliber 12P. Piaget currently offers 18 thin calibers, ranging from simple manual-wind two-hand models to automatic tourbillons and perpetual cal
Eterna Calibre 39 Watch Movement: Valjoux 7750 Alternative And So Much More
No doubt in light of the fact that ETA-made movements are harder than ever to get, Eterna has just announced that they have created a new movement, dubbed the Calibre 39, which is the result of a project that started in 2007. This is potentially a very important announcement for the industry as the Calibre 39 is designed to be both an alternative to many hard to get ETA movements, as well as a strong base caliber for lots of complications. The Calibre 39 is a fully modular movement that has been designed to be as expandable as possible, ranging from a manual two-hander to a column wheel-equipped flyback chronograph. A project that started out with the goal of designing a competitor to the ETA 7750, Eterna has now launched a proposed entire family of movements thanks to a modular design that builds upon a base movement platform. It is worth noting that long ago Eterna actually started ETA.With over 88 different specifications, it is clear that Eterna has put lot of development into the C
Scott Carpenter has died.
I just learned that Scott Carpenter, one of the original Mercury astronauts, has died. I have always admired America's first space pioneers, of which Scott was among the very first group. He was the second to orbit the Earth. As I have posted before, earlier this year, I bought the commemorative Breitling Cosmonaute, a Navitimer similar to the one worn by Commander Carpenter during that mission. The watch has a 24 hour dial. The case back bears his name.It just so happened that I am wearing that watch today, the day of Commander Carpenter's death. I'm glad to wear it today, of all days, it helps me to pause and wish Commander Carpenter Godspeed as he begins his next journey.Thank you for your service, to America and to humankind, Commander. Rest in Peace.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1381438459.098688.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1381438488.983712.jpg

Join the PAM club today with a PAM 50. I noticed the deployment clasp is missing the push release button, while others PAM 50 I saw always has the push button. Are there different verdions of PAM bracelet? Mine is a C series so it is around 2000. Was the bracelet difference back then ?
The Explorer II 16570-3186 Is it considered rare?
I've been offered a white explorer II 16570 with a 3186 movt and the jeweler explained to me that it is a special watch coz it was produced in limited numbers and it have the engraved bezel. I declined the offer coz I'm not a big fan of the Exp-II. After getting back home and reading about it, i started thinking that I might buy it as an investment if it's gonna be considered rare in a few years. What do you guys know about this specific model? Icould it be a good catch?
