Gavox Curtiss P-40 Review
Gavox is a young watch company (founded in 2011) based out of Belgium that recently released several very attractive quartz timepieces under the Curtiss P-40 name.? With rugged good looks and military heritage, the watches speak to a common sensibility in the watch world.? And at approximately $250, they're well within the budget of most.Curtiss P-40 Ref 350 CalendarMovement: Caliber VD75 from SeikoDimension: 40mm X 8mm X 46.7 lug to lugLug Width: 20mm lug widthWater resistance: 5 barCrystal: mineral crystal w/ anti-reflection coatingWarranty: Limited Warranty for a period of 2 yearsPrice: $230-250Curtiss P-40 Ref?338.1 Military TimeMovement: caliber VD77 from SeikoDimension: 40mm X 8mm X 46.7 lug to lugLug Width: 20mm lug widthWater resistance: 5 barCrystal: mineral crystal w/ anti-reflection coatingWarranty: Limited Warranty for a period of 2 yearsPrice: $240-255Gavox was founded by Michael Happ, engineer, pilot and grandson of one of the Flying Tigers pilots of WWII. My First AP Experience
I went to a local AP AD while visiting my parents in Naples, FL today.I never saw an AP Royal Oak 15400 in person and had to try one on. Before I had seen it in person, I was skeptical of what others had seen in this watch. The pictures did not thrill my soul or create the I must have this - I NEED THIS! syndrome that I have been inflicted with when seeing other watches on line. As I took off my newly acquired Hulk and placed the silver dial RO on my wrist, I became enamored with this exquisite timepiece. The watch and I took to each other the way Thor and his hammer must have when they first met. Now, the dilemma has set in. I have found my grail (or maybe it has found me) and have to think about how I can eventually acquire one. I know that of the 4 Rolex watches I own, the EXP II would be the first to go. Then I am guessing that my PAM 048 would be next. That still is not enough to come close to financing my silver cloud grail.Oh the joy and agony of truly finding your grail and the
Awesome LE AP
I am shopping for my first AP and came across this watch. I was really excited for a second thinking that this was all ceramic, but it isn't. Blackened DLC steel case with black Mega Tapisserie dial, white arabic numerals, tachymeter, hands, Crown and push-pieces in the same white.I hope AP comes out with this watch in all black ceramic.
5130 Service Advice needed
OK guys, I'm totally depressed with the issue my 5130 world time is having.First, I only wear this piece about 3-4weeks total out of the year and I have had it for about 4 years now. When I first got the piece I had an issue right away where the push button for rotating the timezones on the dial got stuck where the dial and hour hands would not rotate with zero resistance when pushing the button on the case. The piece had to be sent back to Geneva for servicing, and I got it back 8 weeks later with no direct explanation to me since it was sent through the AD.Fast forward 4 years, I was wearing the piece over the weekend, and decided to shift the dial to different timezones. I got through about 5-6 cities, and then all of a sudden I lost some resistance in the pushbutton. The outer dials with the city prints stopped shifting, but the hour hand would still shift by 1 hour with each push. Whne I push the button now there is much less resistance with the hour hands still shifting, but t
